Commercial Description:
Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is a new addition to the Yeti clan. A generous infusion of Denver’s own Pablo’s espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. It’s official, you can now have Yeti with breakfast.

Suggested food pairings: Breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake, creme brulee.

22oz bottle courtesy of DuffManSW, via mikendi from BA. Super dark pour with a real dark brown, creamy head. Sweet coffee aroma, some chocolate as well. Chocolate, vanilla shot to the mouth right away, some bitterness in the end, very easy to drink as well, quite good.

22oz bomber served in a snifter. Poured a deep brown/black with about a finger of fine bubbled tan head. Lots of coffee in the aroma also some piney hops. Rich and full bodied. Lots of chocolate and vanilla right off as well as coffee of course. The coffee is not overpowering as in some coffee beers. There is a fair amount of hop bitterness, that shows up in a dry finish. The chocolate and coffee really linger in the finish. To me one of the better coffee stouts. The coffee is not overly bitter. Great flavor from the oak.

Bottle and served in my Expedition snifter: What a beautiful pour, pitch black with a super creamy head that one normally only gets with nitro or one of those damn widget thingys. The aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, burnt toast, hazelnut, molasses, some oak and earthy esters, with a hint of piney hops. The taste is initially espresso forward with an overwhelming bitterness before the sweeter malts come about to play. Slightly fruity and lactic as well with a quick dash of oaky dryness upon the finish. Unlike the Beer Geek Weasel this does not have nearly as much depth of palate, the coffee is more dominate here. The mouth feel is silky smooth and the alcohol well hidden (until the morning after hangover). Well done overall and beer geek worthy but I must say I would rather have a regular Yeti or the Oak Aged Yeti over this.

22 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a dark, dark brown color with a 3/4 finger thick dark tan head. Light lacing. Aroma is coffee and roasted malt. Flavor is roasted and doughy malt, and coffee. Didn’t get much vanilla. Medium to full body. Finish is bitter and roasty. A nice beer.

Pours extremely dark brown, completely black in the glass, no light gets in even around the corners. Big puffy two-finger tan head, good, lasting lacing. Fragrant, coffee grounds, bitter chocolate, oak, some dark fruit, and molasses. Thick, velvety body, just a little dry. Sweet and thick up front with dark chocolate, espresso, oak, caramel, and even some notes of leather. As sweet as it is, it’s even more bitter, with some pine and a tiny bit of citrus.

Bottle from Papago. Pours a dark chocolate color with a thick mocha head. Smells of hops and oak. Tastes like this beer was made in a frying pan with flavors of grease, hazelnut, baker’s cocoa, espresso, and faint cream. Harmonizes as the temperature warms. Potent, yet nuanced.

22oz gold foil topped bomber served in a snifter. This poured a dense, opaque black with a thick head of dark tan, cascading (almost appeared nitroed at first glance) foam that slowly settled into a lasting cap. A heavy coat of lace covered the sides of the glass. The aroma was classic Yeti, but with an even dose of fresh coffee. The rich chocolate and roasted notes were still there, with the espresso just adding another layer. The flavor was robust and included heavy doses of chocolate, coffee, molasses, roasted malt, and also some vanilla. Also some mild pine in the finish, but the hops were mainly there for bittering. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and a touch sticky. Light carbonation. I already thought Yeti was a great beer, and I love bold coffee, so this was right up my alley.

A little bit of a disappointment. Very nice coffee aroma and taste, but I would rather have original/oaked yeti over this one. Maybe it needs some age on it? Finish is very dry/bitter.
