Commercial Description:
Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is a new addition to the Yeti clan. A generous infusion of Denver’s own Pablo’s espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. It’s official, you can now have Yeti with breakfast.

Suggested food pairings: Breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake, creme brulee.

Thick and dark, this stuff doesn’t pour, it drips. Rich semisweet chocolate on the nose. Viscous on the palate with gritty roasted coffee. It has it all, just like the label says and doesn’t disappoint.

On draft at Birreria Paradiso in Georgetown. Black pour, dark brown head, decent lace. Intense coffee nose and flavor. I like coffee, so I liked this beer. If you don’t care for coffee, you’ll find the espresso to be too much. The finish has nice hints of alcohol and a nice oakiness to it.

On tap at the Mad Mex in Robinson. Coal black appearance. Nice creamy head. Seems to be on nitro. Big coffee aroma. Absolutely no carbonation on the palate. Lots of tuff liquor and alky flavors. Quite strong and over the top for a lager lover. A little too much for this beer guzzler. If you are into whiskey in your black coffee, this is for you. Impy stout style all the way. In yer face, dog. A long lingering medicinal finish, wew.

Good lord is this one roasty. Pours black, with a thick, dense, dark tan head. Beautiful. Aroma has some deep, dark roasted coffee, nearly masking the normal notes of chocolate and molasses. Flavor is right on the nose (so to speak) - it almost tastes burnt. Lots of oak, for sure, but it doesn’t have the sweetness I’m used to finding in this style - the acrid bitterness from the coffee covers it. Glad I tried it, and I’m a huge fan of the normal OA Yeti... but this one seems a bit much. I feel like there needed to be something else to counter the sharpness of the coffee, and it wasn’t there. Big, big brew - you can’t believe how thick it is - and the mouthfeel is great... the flavor just isn’t my cup of tea (or coffee).

Sampled at the GD tasting at Blacklick Wine and Spirits on 3.26.09. Black pour with a light brown head and very sticky, very much like regular Yeti. Malty coffee aroma with some chocolate. Malty flavor up front with some vanilla from the oak. Very good, but the flavor that immediately follows is a bit plasticky before the bitter espresso finish hits. A truly delicious beer, but the hint of plastic keeps it from being a top 10.

pours thick dark blackwith thick creamy light brown head. not much of an aroma but there are slight notes of coffee. strong upfront coffee flavor with oak notes. strong boozy flavor that coats your entire mouth and is strong on the palate and is somewhat creamy/velvety. lingering coffee flavor. pretty drinkable for an extreme beer but it is definetely a meal in a glass!

22oz bottle. The aroma is a nice mix of fresh espresso, strong oak, some vanilla, and roasted malts with a hint of sweetness. Pours almost black with some brown hues and a brown mousy head. The flavor is first strong espresso followed by wood on the mid palate which segues into some light sweetness in the form of vanilla, roasted malt moves in and a pretty noticeable hop bitterness rounds out the finish. Some lingering roasted espresso notes as well as some oak. Drinks very nicely.

Bottle : Excellent chocolate and espresso aroma along with some light vanilla, oak, and roast. It pours a dark brown, virtually black, with a large creamy brown head with great retention and lacing. The flavor starts with dark chocolate and faint vanilla. The finish has lots of espresso along with some piney hops, light burnt notes, and oak. Full bodied with a silky mouthfeel. An excellent coffee Imperial Stout.
