Great Divide Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout

Aroma: Oak, whole coffee beans. Appearance: Dark brown with barely any head. Flavor: Espresso, earth, wood, vanilla and a touch of smoke. Palate: Thick and silky. Overall: Better than the Great Oak Aged Yeti sans the Espresso. Really impressed, glad I had a friend to share this with me, as it is strong and filling.

Bottle in trade from 7ways. Thanks! Pours very dark black with a short lived tan head. Smell is chocolate, fresh oak, a bit of vanilla, and only mild coffee aromas and a touch of alcohol. Taste is rich, and chocolatey with a strong fresh oak flavor and hop bitterness to it. Very mild coffee flavor in fact, and very similar to what I remember of the Oak Aged Yeti, with lots of oak, hops and chocolate. Rich body, and soft yet prickly carbonation. Another very solid beer in the Yeti series, but I found this too similar to the Oak Aged Yeti and it didn’t have enough espresso to really distinguish itself as much as I hoped for. Still a great beer.

Draught at Brick Store Pub. Pours black with a thick dark brown head. Looks like old motor oil pouring into a pan for changing... Thick and satisfying the flavors are dominated by coffee and vanilla from the oak, there is a faint hint of hops. Very nice, but a little less oak would have made this perfect IMHO. As usual...very solid stuff from Great Divide !!

(Draught and bottle samples) Pours an opaque black (brown edges) with a medium-sized tan head. Aroma of grapefruit, coffee, roasted malt, and dark chocolate. Flavor of chocolate, roasted malt, and hops (citrus).

Thanks to CaryTheDude for the trade. Pours a deep dark brown color with medium frothy tan head. Aroma is of light coffee, chocolate, light vanilla, hops and some dark fruit. Taste is wood, vanilla, alcohol, hops, chocolate, alcohol and light coffee. This beer, to me, is a mess. The hops are too intense and mess everything up. This could have been a great beer, but for me, the hops screws it up. Not bad, but not what I was expecting.

Thanks to my bro for sharing this! Pours black with a medium off-white head which fades rather quickly leaving a few rainy streaks on the glass and some mocha bubbles. Aroma is vanilla, dark roasts, chocolate, and grassy hops. Taste is much the same. Taste is a bit too hoppy but has some good milk chocolate and vanilla characteristics.

Pours black into a snifter. Mocha head with excellent retention leaves spot lacing. Espresso, oak and dark chocolate aromas. Oak upfront with deep, dark chocolate in the middle and a lasting espresso and hop finish.

could this long-awaited brew rival the best of the coffee beers. the answer is both yes and no. pours black and creamy with a medium tan head that hangs around like that annoying co-worker who just doesn’t get it. Nose is dark chocolate and only brief coffee. although the taste? forget about it. you think you liked yeti, then you’re gonna love this. the espresso milds out the oak aged yeti and leaves a nice coffee taste with a bit of smoke. this tasty beverage reminds me of classic coffee stouts, like tyranena’s devil made me do it and barley island’s black magic java stout. thank you great divide, i love you.
