Commercial Description:
Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is a new addition to the Yeti clan. A generous infusion of Denver’s own Pablo’s espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. It’s official, you can now have Yeti with breakfast.

Suggested food pairings: Breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake, creme brulee.

Big thanks to Kinz for bringing this beauty. Dark black body with an ivory head. Slight astringent aroma, coffee, toffee, and espresso (big surprise) accents in the aroma. Great taste, espresso based with some additional grain and dark fruit accents. Smooth ending, mostly dark chocolate.

(sampled at the alesmith ba decadence release.black body with a thick mocha like black head that leaves nice webbing on the glass.the aroma is identical to a nice mocha cappuccino.unfortunately this is where the beers good characteristics stop.the flavor has a funky "burnt" coffee flavor to it that dominates the rest of the beers good qualities.damn shame to cuz this could of been something great.

22oz pry-top brown glass. Bottled Feb. 13 2009. Appearance: Deep black with brown around the edges, light tan head, leaving sparse spotting. Nose: Lots of bitter espresso notes, vanilla way out when you really breathe in. Smells like a coffee shop that roasts their own, or maybe the coffee isle in a grocery store. Palate: Medium- to full-bodied. Lots and lots of dark roast coffee grounds up front, in the middle and on the finish. There’s some mild tempering from the oak, a little vanilla, dried creamer feel in the middle. Some earthy, dried leaves notes on the finish, and some green coffee bean flavors, too. Notes: Gotta say, I prefer the Oaked Yeti to all the Yeti’s so far. This is a little too coffee ground tasting/feeling, a little too bitter (from the coffee), and a little too simple. Texture and flavors a little overdone.

Beautiful thick tan head that seemed to stick around forever. Amazing balance of oak, choc and espresso none overpowered the other. Somewhat high abv but couldnt even notice it. Excellent and would recommend to anyone. Thanks to Steve for making me drink this at WOB.

2/11/2009: Oak Aged Espresso Yeti has an aroma is hoppy with a some subtle coffee. It is nearly black in color with with a minimal tan head. In general I would describe the aroma as "green." The flavor is similar: hoppy, bitter, and dark malts with soft coffee in the finish. To be honest, I don’t get much oak or espresso out of this and it is a stretch to all it Yeti, but it could be because this was THE LAST of the keg. There is a ground coffee presence, but in general, I am disappointed with this beer. It seems really green, so bitter, not enough body, and is lacking in depth. I personally think that this beer is too young and would benefit from being aged in a bottle for a year or so. I am actually glad that I only ended up with a half growler of this...

Partial growler fill from Party Town in Florence, Kentucky. Rating #86 for this beer.
