Commercial Description:
Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is a new addition to the Yeti clan. A generous infusion of Denver’s own Pablo’s espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. It’s official, you can now have Yeti with breakfast.

Suggested food pairings: Breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake, creme brulee.

Bottle shared with Savvy1982 and Macadem. Pours black with a mocha coloured head. Nice lacing. The aroma is quite hoppy and green with chocolate, coffee, soy sauce, herbs hiding behind the hops. This isn’t what I was expecting on the nose. The taste is completely different from the aroma. Milk chocolate, coffee, bourbon, hops and oak. Mouth feel is thin. I like this, but I don’t love it right now. It seems a bit boozy and a little sloppy. This bottle needed to age at least a year. But I see great potential.

22oz., bottling date Mar. 6th, ’09. Nose is indeed full of espresso, along with notes of dark chocolate, alcohol, roasted malt, faint vanilla and cream. Opaque ebony color with a thick brown head that subsides, leaving some nice lacing as it goes. Flavor is a tasty melange of espresso bean, cocoa, oak, vanilla, spicy, earthy hop flavor, generous bitterness and peppery alcohol. Warming, creamy and smooth on the palate, finishing dry and with a rich, full body. Another winning variation on a theme from this brewer.

22 oz bottle served in a clear pint glass. Pour was opaque with thick foaming dark head. Excellent lacing with this one. Nose is malt, coffee, roasted notes, vanilla, and caramel. Taste is much the same, but comes off, as well as finishes, much bitter then I was expecting. I could have used a bit less of the bitter factor, but it was a pretty decent brew despite this. The aroma was my favorite part of this beer.

bottle courtesy of . pours a black viscous syrup with a nice 2-3 finger dark brown head thats very dense and creamy leaving lacing like a chocolate milkshake. nose is of huge roasting coffee, licorice, chocolate, caramels and other heavy burnt sugars. taste is of a thick coffee milkshake with some bitter coffee grounds in it. at this point i’m expecting to find grounds in the bottom of this bottle! silky, sweet, bitter, very nice.

Bottle, shared with hobbersr and macadem. Pours inky black with a fine dark tan head, good lacing. Nose is very hoppy, exceedingly so. This was a super-fresh batch, or an off bottle. Either way, big Three-C nose, pine plus cigar ash, roasted malt, coffee, hops really detract from the beer though. Must be far far too young. Palate is huge milk chocolate, hops are present, but restrained and acceptable. Roasted malt, coffee, a touch of oak on the finish, very tasty, shame about the nose though. Must get an older bottle to re-rate in future.

Smells of pine and hops, though tastes nothing like it. Pours dark, rich black, with a chocolate head. A bit of chocolate and coffee for flavor, pretty boozy, and feels like a big swig of boozy motor oil in the mouth. Damn good but doesnt knock my socks off.
