Honey biscuit sweetness moving towards a sharp focused bitterness with great balance. Full carbonation and body, had a creamy texture and mouth feel, long finish that progresses through a smooth complex bitterness. This is an excellent beer, the hop bitterness can only be described as being huge and chewy, but very clean and not overwhelming. BOLTZ7555 (1113), Phoenix, Arizona, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 28, 2008 Decent beer...fiery orange with coppery hue dancing around the outer edges. Nice eggshell head left sticky remnants clinging inside. Aroma is pine and lemongrass, flavor has notes of citrus and malty sweetness (perhaps a bit too much in the malt category). Didn’t have the pucker I was looking for. Tried this after High Tide, which definitely did this a disservice. My bad. HomeBrewHawk (282), De Soto, Kansas, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 26, 2008 2008 version. 22oz. bomber served in a shaker pint glass. Poured a dark copper with a fine bubbled off white head. Big piney hop aroma. Pretty good initial hop blast. Decent malt base with a little sweetness. Smooth mouthfeel, not that mouth puckering dryness you get in some hoppy beer. Maybe a little one dimensional, but if you like hops that’s a good dimension. thehinge (247), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Clear orange pour with a small white head. Laces nicely. Piney aroma. Citrusy front end with a bitter finish. Crisp on the tongue. If you’re a hophead, give this a try. LtDan (522), Los Angeles County, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Smelled fantastic, and without reading the label, you do in fact smell grassy citrusy notes. It poured picture perfect, a dark orange with a fluffy sudsy head. Tasted very earthy and grainy, and was a bit malty for my liking. Oh there was a ton of hop flavor, but the earth tones and malt could have been scaled back a bit. BillKismet (1954), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 26, 2008 Bronze with decent head. Outstanding fresh hop medley. Perhaps Amarillo & Chinook. Citrus dominant aroma with orange and lemon highlights. Citrusy flavor with strong bitterness component. Grapefruit develops. Probably better defined as an IPA. A lot of IBU’s for an APA. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2008 Pours a burnt orange with a frothy white head, remnants of which stay for the duration. Aroma is grassy with wood chips and caramel. Flavor is fresh, grassy and bitter. Extremely drinkable. NJJereme (272), Saint Petersburg, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 24, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Pours an amber/copper color with a medium sized white head. Aroma of fresh grapefruit and pine. Nice hoppy bitterness. Surprisingly lighter bodied than I expected, finishes very smooth for such a bitter ale.
