Commercial Description:
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-03-03) Amber and lightly hazy. Medium sized and quite quickly disappearing white head. Fruitiness and grass in aroma with some malty notes. Full bodied, bit soft and dry palate with quite high carbonation. Malts, hops, bitterness, fruitiness, grass, bread and hint of sweetness in taste. Malty and bitter aftertaste. Old rating, bottled version: 7-4-6-3-12=3.2

Bottled. Golden colour with particles floatingt around, mediumsized white head. Aroma is sweet fruity hops along with some nectary hints. Flavour is quite much the same, but does get some mild glueish sweetness as it warms up.

Copper-golden color, good creamy off-white head, some lace. Malty, juicy hops and some freshier clover-like hops too. Dry hoppy, bready and of course very bitter. Some grassyness, which comes with odd rubbery flavors.

(Draught@Pikkulintu) Slightly hazy golden-amber with a small, creamy head. Very fresh, lemony-aromatic, lightly fruity aroma. Fresh and sharply bitter-grassy-hoppy, pine-aromatic flavor, but without cat-pee. Medium body and carbonation, very refreshing, hides the ABV completely. A perfect after-work beer, and much better from keg than from the 6 months old bottle. (Bottled, was 7-4-7-4-14=3.6) Clear golden-amber with a small head. Some citrusy hops and toffeeish malt in the aroma - not very fresh, it seems. Moderately malty flavor with some diacetyl-like hints, piney hops, and strawberries. Medium body, smooth carbonation. This could be very nice on draught, but at over 6 months, this was not at its best.

Incredible aroma. The smell is like an open field in the foothills of the Rocky mountains. Very clean and grassy. Very strong hops flavor, but not too bitter. Quite an exquisite creation!

Lots of pine and american hops ... no alcohol detected ... smooth as a new bowling ball... this is an IPA right?? no APA here ... it actually tastes fresh with a great bitter backbone...One of the nicer american pales available!!

Incredible pale ale. Hops were slightly bitter but with and overall sweet and soft palate. No overbearing hops, but almost an aftertaste of honeysuckle.

Jeezuz Crikey! This one just knocked me over from the smell alone. A hearty nose boquet of floral hops that just fills the room with it’s sweet presence. The taste is massive. Bountiful in it’s hop goodness and generous in it’s overall taste. Perhaps a little too generous for some, but for the hophead, this is one Pale Ale that cannot be missed!
