Commercial Description:
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

Bottle. Pours copper with a small head and good lacing. Aroma is hops. The taste is an excellent blend of hops and grapefruit. Almost like an IPA. I really enjoyed this one.

Jan. 2007 - Pour was an orangey yellow with a strong grapefruit aroma. Flavor was thick sweet malt and grapefruit hops. Extremely heavy for a pale ale, which limits its drinkability somewhat, but it’s sold in bombers for a reason, I guess. Enjoyable.

Tasted 2008-02-16. Fresh bottle. Pours clear, orange with an off-white head. Aroma of grass, hops and pineapples. Ditto flavours. Good beer, but it’s a little one sided; Hops carry it alone - it needs a better malt profile IMHO.

Pours cloudy orange with small white head. Nicely balanced malt and hops. More malt than I expected -- has a delicious bitter finish. A bit thin on the palate, but I would definitely buy again.

Bottle @ Ølbaren. Hazy amber coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Kinda easy drinkable. Quite good balance but a little too anonymous.

Copper color pour with a firm white head and good lacing. Aroma was fresh earthy, grassy hops. Flavor is grassy hops with a nice sweet malt to back it up. No bitterness in these hops, just the great sweetness of fresh hops. Very drinkable and very delicious. Another great brew from Great Divide.

Poured a hazy copper color with an off white head about 2 fingers thick. Aroma is hops, citrus, grapefruit and pine. Nice slightly bitter flavor with a strong hop finish. Very smooth medium body, I could drink this all day.
