Commercial Description:
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

(bottled 07OctWeek2): Pours an amber color, very clear fizzy. Frothy white head, not big but lasting. Very hoppy grapefruit aroma. A little smell of skunk. Some earthy aroma. Sweet grapefruily taste. Robust but not bitter, slight sweet aftertaste. Very tasty. A hoppy pale ale. Sweet mallty taste.

10-24-07 bottle. Clear amber color with fantastic lacing. Very fresh earthy hops smell. Nice strong hoppy taste. You can really notice the difference in fresh hops. Unique flavor with a great mouth feel. Progresses very nicely in the mouth.

Pours to a bright copper color with thick off-white head that lingers for the whole glass and leaves very good lacing. Very strong, very hoppy citrus aroma, leads to a very tingly, full mouthfeel, and this in turn carries over to a bitter citrus hop flavor that is biting, yet pleasant. Fianlly, the finish is very bitter, long lasting and dry, just as I would expect from this style. Very possibly the best APA I’ve ever had.

pours copper with big fluffy head. Aroma of floral hops and citrus. Medium bodied with a more earthy hop taste. Not as sweet and citrusy as the aroma promised but good none the less.

Large, thick foam head. Excellent lacing, just the right amount of floral hop aroma to please but not overwhelm. Almost a translucent amber/golden color. Slightly bitter. Just the right amount of flavor from a full bodied, but more lightly colored beer.

22 oz bottle from bottletrek.com. Pours a nice copper with a fluffy head. Subtle hoppy citrus and pine aroma. Great malty character balance nicely with the hops. Earthy and citrus flavor. Medium mouthfeel with a dry finish and a bitterness that lingers. What I really like about this Fall fresh hop style beer, is that it is true to style. Many fresh hop beers that claim to be an APA, is overly hopped up like an IPA. Do not get me wrong, I love IPA’s, but don’t call it an APA if it isn’t. Great APA!

On cask at GABF 2007. Honestly, this pour blew me away. One of the best beers I’ve ever had. The floral hops, citrus zest, and piney hops were just alive. This brew sparkled on the palate, medium-bodied and malty. Nice bread flavor on the front, full piney hops on the palate and a sweet citrus finish. Just a beautiful beer.

Pint courtesy of Knightly Spirits. Pours a 1-inch of off-white head over a copper/amber body. Tight webs of off-white lacing. Nose is spicy and fresh with floral hops, grass, and subtle hints of orange zest. Same flavors on the palate with overtones of caramel and more enticing piney, resinous, floral hops. Medium/harsh carbonation and medium bodied. Not a complex beer, but very refreshing with well-balanced hop flavor. Like drinking Evergreen sap. Very nice APA.
