Commercial Description:
Brewing with fresh hops is a big endeavor, requiring four to five times the hop volume compared to using pelletized hops. Although the process is complex, it brings impressive results: Fresh Hop is an American-style pale ale with moderate hop bitterness marked by a unique and intensely grassy hop flavor and aroma. Fresh Hop is a superbly refreshing, medium bodied, light-copper colored pale ale weighing in at 55 IBUs and 6.1% ABV.

22 oz bomber. Pours a clear orange coppery color with a medium white head. Hoppy aroma of pine and faint floral tones. Taste is slightly piney with hoppy floral flavors. Has that classic west coast ipa bite to it. Very nice.

Bottle. Pours a clear copper with a two finger white head that lasts leaving good lacing. Aroma of grassy hops, pine, citrus, and light caramel malt. Taste is the same just more intense grassy hop flavors and mild hop bitterness balanced by light sweet caramel malt. Medium mouthfeel that is slightly resiny from all of the fresh hops. Very refreshing and well balanced.

Pours a clear golden orange with a well retained foamy off white head. very fresh hoppy aromas, hints of citrus, and a little cinnamon. Tastes of hoppy grapefruit and some sweet citrus fruits. Nice light touch of caramel in between the hoppiness. Especially prevavlant in the finish and the aftertaste. Very easy drinking and quite tasty. I liked this one.

Bomber split with myself. The pour is a rusty, cloudy orange with a decent white head. The aroma is very grassy and herbal with honey and melon notes. I was expecting more of a hop punch for some reason, but this ale isn’t about that. It’s about having a very wet, fruity, grassy flavor and it delivers well. It’s remarkably refreshing. The malts are very clean and balance everything with bread, caramel, and even a slight chocolate flavor. This ale seems to pack less of the bittering punch than some, but has a whole new spectrum of grassy, exotic flavor. Well done.

Bottle. Pours a nice cloudy orange amber with a tall creamy white head. Aroma is a nice hop arrangement. Lots of grapefruit, pine, and grass. Flavor is much the same, with some caramel like malts to back it up. To my tastes, this is a great example of using potent hops, yet keeping it with session appeal.

Caramel in the aroma. Kind of creamy, with a bit of nice sourness on the back-end. Solid Pale Ale.

Rec’d in trade with Dansting. Thanks!! Pours out a dark amber color with a nice thick creamy one finger head. Aroma is clearly pine and citrus with an interesting caramel-like malt jumping in. Mouthfeel was incredibly smooth, rich and inviting. Flavors were bright, clean hops (grapefruity and piney), a bready malt profile with enough sweetness to really balance out the refined hoppiness of the beer. Great Divide continues to impress me with their ability to make excellent beers with little to no faults. SNPA has definite competition with this great beer. And it is great.
