Commercial Description:
Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

Pours hazy pale yellow with a smallish white head. Strong yeast, clove, honey in the nose. Flavor is initially spicy yeasts and hops with a trend towards a nice honeyed malty backbone. Ends clean. Pretty good.

Butter’s 4th cellar reduction. Slightly hazy yellow with a quickly disappearing white head. Sweet lemon, honey and clove aromas. Not nearly enough bitterness to go with the sweet but it is quite refreshing.

Bottle from acknud. Pours a fairly clear gold color wtih a small white head. Aroma is heavy on the yeast and a grainy malt character. Flavor has some malty sweetness and a hint of yeast..but the flavor is lemony and a bit bitter. Not sure about this one. GD needs to stick to what they know.

Bottle at the Fourth Butters’ Cellar Clearance Event. Pours a hazy yellow with large white head. Aroma of lemon citrus, clove, slight yeast notes. Flavor is clean, crisp, refreshing, with pepper, and clove. Solid example of a belgian hefe.

12 oz bottle at Butters’ 4th Cellar Reduction. Pours a white lacing head with a hazy golden body. Smells of yeast, banana, citrus, and clove. Tastes the same but with a cloying sweetness.

No color, little head. Aroma is heavy on corn and the taste, while there are a few spices, is mostly of a cheap pale lager. There are way better Belgians out there.

An almost golden appearance in my glass. Enjoyable beer--more drinkable than most beers I drink. Definitely is Belgian style, reminiscent of some Tripels I have had but obviously much more lightweight. Not much in the aroma department and fewer hops than I anticipated but the taste is surprisingly good. Flowery, banana taste. Good mouthfeel.
