JaBier (1130), Capital City, Ohio, USA Feb 19, 2009 Bottle. Pours clear gold with a medium white head. Aroma of spicy Belgian yeast and hops. Yeast flavor up front with hops and spice in the finish. Not bad. Lowe1983 (1029), Fairborn, Ohio, USA Feb 12, 2009 Pours a golden color with a white head. Aroma is of yeast, spices, and slight banana. Flavor was better then I was expecting. Spice, slight hops, yeast, and a little banana are the stronger flavors. Not much warming on this one. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA Feb 5, 2009 has a nice yeasty spice aroma, nice spice malt taste with a nice blend of hops, very nice. ThaBobfather (178), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Feb 1, 2009 Good hints of white spice. While I understand that beligans should be less dark, this beer looks and heads like natural light. Not a whole lot of flavor, but there is good spice on the back. This is one of the most drinkable belgians at 7.3% i’ve ever had. MrBunn (1518), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 31, 2009 Bottle. Pour is a clear and light gold with a finger or so of white head. Aromas of cloves and bananas with a bit of an acidic or urine edge to them... smells kind of unappealing, to be honest. Maybe urine isn’t the best descriptor, but something smells kind of off. In the flavor, this weirdness comes off as a bit of a metal and a bit of vegetation rot that intertwines with the sweet honey malt, banana and clove yeastiness and the peppery edge from the hops. Man, this just isn’t what I expected. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Jan 26, 2009 Bottle. Pours a hazy amber-gold with a thick, fluffy white head. Sharp aroma of malt, yeast, spices, and hops. Taste is sweet and sharp, of malt, spices, yeast, citrus, and a hint of hops. Lingering light sweetness. Not too exciting but decent. scraff (1920), Baltimore, Maryland, USA Jan 26, 2009 Sparkling gold, creamy white head. Soft cotton candy and citrus perfume nose rides soft peppery herbal tones. Hints of yeast at room temp. Lightly spiced candy flavors round to a soft earthy hop note. Light to medium bodied, medium carbonation, soft bittersweet finish. Drinkable, but definitely not GD’s best effort... fluffy (229), Florida, USA Jan 24, 2009 pours lite gold color with effervescent bubbles. aroma is predictably yeasty and citrusy. taste is same, with a little more hoppiness than most belgian ales. but in the end, fairly middle of the road. not a bad thing, but not particularly exciting or surprising here.
