CaptainCougar (5379), Rockville, Maryland, USA Jan 29, 2008 Bottled in July ’07: Pours a sparkling golden with a thin, wispy-lacing white head. Aroma of lightlt sweet, toasty pale biscuity malt with some floral noble hop notes and an authentic Belgian yeastiness. Body starts fairly full and toffee sweet with an earthy grassy bittering hop presence and some doughy yeasty notes before a drier, biscuity finish. A pretty nice and quite drinkable Belgian ale. blklab2007 (938), Connecticut, USA Jan 20, 2008 22oz. bottle poured a light golden color with a good dose of carbination and a one finger head of white foam on the surface. aroma has a distinct yeast, light sweetness, back ground hops, and some grass. mouth feel is medium light, nice yeasty floral, hops to give some spice, smooth malt, and finishes with flowers and yeast. nice brew with a distinct flavor, good carbination, and a nice level of sweetness. MiP (8793), Sønderborg, Denmark Jan 20, 2008 Bottle. Weak light caramel, bonbon aroma. Clear, shiny, very pale yellow colour. Small white head. The flavour is a lot like a tripel, slightly sweet with a little spices. Semi-rough bitterness. Well-balanced. Nothing out of the ordinary, but well-crafted. faroeviking (6024), Republica Vikingo de las, Faroe Islands Jan 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours a pale yellow colour. Bit sweet, spiced, nice hoppy and bit grassy aroma. The flavour has a little sweetness, some yeast, some spices, good hoppiness. Thanks BelJohansen. yespr (11645), Copenhagen O, Denmark Jan 16, 2008 75 cL bottle, thanks to BelJohansen. Pours clear yellow and with a lacing white head. Fresh hoppy aroma, slight grassy. Flavour is fresh hoppy, light sweet and with a mild spice note. Lingers into the finish with a little alcohol warmth. Quite fresh hoppy brew, but close to a German pilsner. Best US imitation of a German pilsner, but so close that I wonder why I should drink this compared to the German originals. I only vaguely sense the Belgian yeast. thewolf (5635), Kolding, Denmark Jan 15, 2008 Bottle @ Ølbaren, Cph. [thank you, Yespr]
Pours a pale yellow, light haziness throughout. A small film head on top. Aroma is sweet at first, kind of reminds me of a tripel. Some peach and grassy notes appear as well, and get stronger as the beer heats up. An okay, lightish body. Flavour is rather German, dominated by grassy hops, high carbonation and a light spiciness (diverging from the German analogy). A touch of a metallic aftertaste appear as well. This is a good pilsner, an okay Zwickel, an acceptable Belgian Ale, but below par for Great Divide. KimJohansen (6676), Copenhagen V, Denmark Jan 15, 2008 Clear Golden with tiny head. Sweet fruity aroma with peach and discrete yeasty notes. Flavor is somewhat sweet with peach and grassy notes. Pretty watery. CapFlu (3480), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Jan 15, 2008 (22oz bottle) Purchased at some yet to be known store on Olive Way in Seattle. Good prices and only a couple of blocks West of Stumbling Monk. Lasting white creamy head with a hazy gold body. Nose of peaches, coriander, orange peel, lemon zest and vanilla. Very light and enjoyable flavour - hard to believe this is only 7.3% ABV. Somewhat like Saxo, a staple in my Belgian diet. This beer is very refreshing and crisp. Impressed!
