NicerInPerson (337), North of Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Oct 19, 2007 The aroma was fruity with a light spice and a bit of very light caramel. The beer poured crystal clear pale golden with a white moderate head which lasted like a champ to lace the glass. The flavor was lightly sweet with a light caramel malt character and nice spice which was understated. The bittering was low and the malt character was low as well. The finish was dry with no outstanding characteristics. The body was medium with a moderate carbonation and a creamy texture on the palate. Alcohol was restrained throughout. Pepper was about the only thing going for this beer. It was nice and easy to drink, but just really did not exhibit the characteristics of a Belgian Ale that rings in at 7% ABV.
22 ounce bottle. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Oct 15, 2007 Hops, yeast and citrus aroma with a light malty character. Golden yellow with a white foamy head. Malty light citrus, hay-like qualities with good balance of bitter and sweet. Even carbonation with a creamy mouth feel and dryish finish. Pretty good overall. JoeMcPhee (4893), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Oct 15, 2007 22 oz bomber. Crystal clear appearance with a very pale straw colour. White head that is slightly sticky and leaves decent lacing. Light spicy aroma, with soft clove and a light yeasty character over a pale Belgian maltiness. A hint of bubble gum and lemony character. Slightly minty with a cooling anaesthetic hoppiness. They are clearly going for the Duvel vote and while this brew isn’t nearly as elegant it gets more things right than it gets wrong. Light peach/apricot fruitiness with a soft spicy perfume and a hint of soft vanilla in the back. Lovely brew and significantly better than the ratings up to now would seem to indicate. AlaskaBrew (4), Fairbanks, Alaska, USA does not count Oct 14, 2007 Very, very, VERY light color -- lighter than straw. Fizzy belgian carbonation, though not particularly dense. Flavor is full, but light -- very fruity, very belgan. Lots of estery flavors; bubblegum and banana, but well balanced. Quite drinkable, if this were a style I enjoyed. I could see this going down well with seafood or light cheese. kreepindeth (405), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA Oct 13, 2007 Bready belgian aroma. Body is a bit thin and not very complex. Some spicy yeast, some wheatiness. madsberg (4873), Søborg, Denmark Oct 13, 2007 Bottled. Golden coloured. A small off white head, which dissapears quickly. A bit unclear. Sweet, yeasty and fruity (Banana and slight apple). Alcohol, light banana and some loads of yeast. But the alcohol is a bit too dominant for my likings. Medium bodied. Quite dry and acidic. Ends on a yeasty and fruity note. Is a bit bland, but can stand up to a lot of "orignal" belgian ales. Nice and refreshing. ElGaucho56 (386), USA Oct 11, 2007 Perhaps the least aptly named beer ever; pours an almost translucent gold with wispy retained head. Nose of hibiscus, warm pita, honey; somewhat thin on the palate, strong golden raisin taste with straw hops and an almost astringent hop finish and strong alcohol presence considering the ABV. Americans really ought to leave tripels to the Belgians. Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2007 22oz bottle-Slightly hazy golden body with no head and a slight aroma of yeast. Taste of sweetness, yeast, alcohol, and a dry finish. Not the best but not the worst.
