FlssmrBrewAlum (1053), Lisle, Illinois, USA Aug 20, 2009 12 oz bottle from Siciliano’s (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a bit of a hazy straw yellow, light and well carbonated with decent bright white bubbly head that quickly dies down to a thicker film, laces a bit. Aromas are apparent pretty quickly with pear, banana, and Belgian yeasty spice. Faint vanilla and soap on top, a bit sweet. Initial is light bodied, fruity and sweeter than expected with pear, apple, banana, a touch of bubblegum candy appeal, less spice than anticipated but it does appear further in and towards the back. The flavors are sufficient, fairly fruity and almost a little forced. Smooth creamy finish with light yeasty spice, largely a rounded out sweeter and lighter bodied Belgian Ale. Different, not really my thing though. I appreciate a Belgian going lighter on the spice, but this beer is a bit confused, fairly fruity but lacking a good back up flavor, lacking a bitterness to balance, and lacking complexity. Ok, overall. pantanap (1322), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 14, 2009 Great divide taproom...golden yellow orange pour with a soapy white head... aroma of pear and crystal malt, light banana.... Crisp light fruit and banana with a dry finish. drowland (1337), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2009 12oz bottle into a pint glass. Pours clear yellow with a huge but loose white head. Aroma is musty champagne with a dash of sweet fruit esters. The flavor is sweet fruit esters all the way with a fresh grain finish and a touch of metal. Medium-high body and medium carbonation. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Aug 7, 2009 12oz bottle. Pours a crystal clear, yellow-golden body with a thin, white, fizzy head that dissipates quickly and leaves a very light lacing. Aroma is spicy and fruity Belgian yeast, white pepper, clove, sour citrus, and a sharper grassy hop. Flavor is spicy, grapes, sharper pepper, yeast, clove, sour citrus, banana, and a moderate rough bitterness. Finishes dry with a light alcohol burn. Distinct Belgian yeast, spice, medicinal, grassy bitterness in the aftertaste that lingers for a moderate duration. Palate is medium bodied, crisp, and medium to heavily carbonated. Overall, a little rough around the edges, but I kinda liked that aspect. Remained well balanced. Not bad. troyc (1160), Lubbock, Texas, USA Aug 6, 2009 [Bottle] Pours a golden color with lots of white head. A sweet and syrupy nose, with yeast and sweet malt notes. Taste is a little more subdued. Citrus, yeast and light fruity notes as well. Still a little heavy/cloying despite the rather high carbonation levels. Overall, not a bad beer though. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Aug 6, 2009 (draft). Clear gold color. Small white head. Sweet wheat aroma, with a wheaty flavor. Avg duration. Finish is smooth with a very light bitterness. Fizzy texture. Heavy carbonation. Fair lacing. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Aug 4, 2009 12oz bottle from holdenn. pours clear golden with white head. nose is a touch yeasty, some spice and pale malts. flavors are slgihtly sweet and balanced by a touch of pepper and yeast. this is very straight forward but makes great lawnmower beer if found much cheaper. wxman (580), O’Fallon, Illinois, USA Aug 3, 2009 Sweet citrus aroma comes through in this bright golden ale with a big thick white head that lingers. Taste is smooth and sweet with some banana, and the tartness one expects in a Belgian. Some pleasant sourness in the finish. Alcohol does not present itself, but there is a little warmth after the swallow. Good stuff.
