Commercial Description:
Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

On tap at the brewery right before the Friday session of GABF. Golden color with a lasting white head and some lacing. Aroma is banana, clove, yeast, and spice. Flavor is pale malt, Belgian yeast, banana, spice, and bubble gum. Almost reminiscent of Russian River Damnation. Palate is a bit thin and watery, but still rounds out well on the finish. This is a solid Belgian-style golden ale, underrated.

Pours a clear yellow color with a medium sized white head. Fairly dense that head. Aroma is full of apple juice. Sweet, simple, malt forward beer with a rich apple and plum flavor and a faint bitterness at the finish. I split this bomber with a hop-hating lager head and they thought this was fantastic. I think it’s enjoyable on a hot day when you need something a little stronger.

Had this beer on 7/29/2007. Aroma is a sweet crisp scent. Color is a pale hazy yellow with good carbonation and thin head. Taste is crisp and bitter. Starting with a light/medium body it goes down crisp. Finish comes on with mild sweet malt flavor back by a sour yeast taste then ends dry with a nice bitterness. Its a bit more bitter then I feel a Strong Golden should be and the Belgian taste is a bit light.

Golden pour with thin, brief white head. Aroma of toasted malt, lawn mower clippings, and playgound wood chips. Flavor is mostly yeasty with some bitter fruits, and doughy malt notes. Some dry, grassy hops. Maybe some pepper. Medium bodied, oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. FInish is slightly spicey. Nothing to see here, folks. Keep on moving.

Tap, Great Divide Taproom in Denver. Shiny gold, smallish white head. Briny salt and poolwater aroma, heather honey. Dill and mint, herbal hop finish. Light body, and rather sneaky at 7.3%. Pleasant glass.

Very bright yellow with a pale, white head that fades very quickly. Skunky aroma with a gentle, herbal spiciness. The flavor is very similar to a lager, cold-conditioned, and its not very Belgian-like for me.

Bottle... Poured clear orange with a white head. Aroma seemed a little off, like sulfur water and hard candy. Smooth palate with some zesty citrus notes, cloves and mild bitter hops. A little alcohol was noticeable in the finish. I thought this was under par for a Belgian Ale.
