Commercial Description:
Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

12oz bottle. Pale yellow-gold color, some sligt haze. Soapy, foamy head. Yeasty sweet aroma, a touch of hoppy seawater. The taste is rather straightforward, but whereas the true Belgians generally display a creamy rich depth, this one falls a little short. It displays solid Belgian yeasty characteristics and has some candi sugar aftertaste, but overall I still find this one to be sub-par. A touch too assertive in bitterness and the beginning, and then lacks real body in the finish. Not worth seeking out, but not bad per se either.

On tap at D’s Six Pax. Clear yellow, white head. Aroma is funky, musty, tangy. Flavor is funky cheese, sausage, and wheat. More like a saison or farmhouse.

Interesting Belgian beer. 12 oz from Warehouse Wine in Spring Hill, FL. Pours clear gold with a pillowy white head. Nose is sugar, yeast, banana, clove, some malt, hay, straw, and pepper. Flavor is reminiscent of a tripel: crisp apples, yeast, pepper, cloves and a tart finish that sticks around. Light in body and a very punctuated presence throughout the mouth. Not bad.

Bottle. Pale yellow body with a small white head. Aroma similar to a wit beer, but sweeter. Spice, grain, light hop. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter and lightly acidic. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter. Light to medium body with a watery texture. Not very well put together.

12 oz bottle from Siciliano’s (Grand Rapids, MI). Pours a bit of a hazy straw yellow, light and well carbonated with decent bright white bubbly head that quickly dies down to a thicker film, laces a bit. Aromas are apparent pretty quickly with pear, banana, and Belgian yeasty spice. Faint vanilla and soap on top, a bit sweet. Initial is light bodied, fruity and sweeter than expected with pear, apple, banana, a touch of bubblegum candy appeal, less spice than anticipated but it does appear further in and towards the back. The flavors are sufficient, fairly fruity and almost a little forced. Smooth creamy finish with light yeasty spice, largely a rounded out sweeter and lighter bodied Belgian Ale. Different, not really my thing though. I appreciate a Belgian going lighter on the spice, but this beer is a bit confused, fairly fruity but lacking a good back up flavor, lacking a bitterness to balance, and lacking complexity. Ok, overall.

Slightly hazy deep gold with small head. Aroma of a little belgian yeast and green apple. A little fusel alcohol in the nose as well. Similar taste of belgian yeast and light biscuit malt. A little bit of bitter hops in the finish. You can taste the alcohol, but it is not overwhelming.
