Commercial Description:
Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

12 ounce bottle in pint tulip. Very pale almost champagne color with ring head (not sure why I didn’t get the head others got). Yeasty sugary aroma with mild white wine and hop spice. Sugary white wine fruitiness with mild finishing spicy dry bitterness. Decent mouthfeel with nice fine internal carbo. Pretty decent for hit or miss style. Drinkable, but not exactly Duvel.

Yellow orange with a fairly substantial white head. Aroma of bubblegum , ginger and other spices with just a hint of wet dog. Taste is fairly dry, and also contains bubblegum and clove. Slight grainy astringency in finish with lingering pear notes. $2/12oz

22oz. bottle poured a light golden color with a good dose of carbination and a one finger head of white foam on the surface. aroma has a distinct yeast, light sweetness, back ground hops, and some grass. mouth feel is medium light, nice yeasty floral, hops to give some spice, smooth malt, and finishes with flowers and yeast. nice brew with a distinct flavor, good carbination, and a nice level of sweetness.

I always want to give them one more try, but I’ve never been a big fan of Belgian Golden ales. THe belgian yeast is front and center, sweet background, some coriander. For me, an above average golden, but that aint sayin much.

The pour was crystal clear and golden with light effervescence and a short, fizzy white head. No lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar, light malt and a bit of yeast. The flavor was sugary and only the faintest trace of yeast came through. A bit of hops at the end provided decent balance. The mouthfeel was not bad. Just OK.
