A close to exaggerated sweetness immediately reminds of bubblegum. Moderately high carbonation. Notes of cloves and nutmeg. Pretty well done. Light, clearly filtered body. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Bottle... Clear yellow ale with a small, fizzy, white head. Decent retention. The aroma is an amalgamation of clove, pear, fuzzy yellow fruits and pale grains. Light to medium-bodied with prickly carbonation. Very well-balanced. The pale malt sweetness and gentle hop bitterness compliment each other perfectly. Finishes crisp and a bit abrasive, tangy and then dry. I am not really a fan of these golden Belgian ales, especially the ones brewed in The States. CaptainCougar (5538), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma of lightlt sweet, toasty pale biscuity malt with some floral noble hop notes and an authentic Belgian yeastiness. Body starts fairly full and toffee sweet with an earthy grassy bittering hop presence and some doughy yeasty notes before a drier, biscuity finish. A pretty nice and quite drinkable Belgian ale. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 1, 2008 Bottle, 22oz. A hazy, yellow-golden beer with a white head. Pale malt, bananaish fruityness and a little spicy touch in the aroma. The flavor is much the same. Would like them both more pronounced, especially the aroma. Medium body. It’s way to high on the alcohol to make it an all-nighter, besides that, it has the easy-to-drink, quaffable qualities a session-beer needs. (080314) madsberg (5074), Søborg, Denmark
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 13, 2007 Bottled. Golden coloured. A small off white head, which dissapears quickly. A bit unclear. Sweet, yeasty and fruity (Banana and slight apple). Alcohol, light banana and some loads of yeast. But the alcohol is a bit too dominant for my likings. Medium bodied. Quite dry and acidic. Ends on a yeasty and fruity note. Is a bit bland, but can stand up to a lot of "orignal" belgian ales. Nice and refreshing. JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 15, 2007 22 oz bomber. Crystal clear appearance with a very pale straw colour. White head that is slightly sticky and leaves decent lacing. Light spicy aroma, with soft clove and a light yeasty character over a pale Belgian maltiness. A hint of bubble gum and lemony character. Slightly minty with a cooling anaesthetic hoppiness. They are clearly going for the Duvel vote and while this brew isn’t nearly as elegant it gets more things right than it gets wrong. Light peach/apricot fruitiness with a soft spicy perfume and a hint of soft vanilla in the back. Lovely brew and significantly better than the ratings up to now would seem to indicate.
