Commercial Description:
Hades is brewed with a rare Belgian yeast strain that gives a complex spicy flavor and aroma. Noticeable hops and medium malt character make it an extremely well-balanced, crisp ale. Hades goes great with a bowl of fresh mussels, crusty bread, and virtually any artesian cheese.

A mid-sized white head, quickly fades to a frothy ring of bubbles. The body revealed is a translucent pale golden with a pretty glow. Nonetheless, this looks bland. alcohol is mild but still penetrates the senses in the first inhalation. Festering grains are plentiful, a mild dose of candi sugar mingles with faint mustiness. Grassy hops are timid. Banana esters keep the nose very sweet and standard. Lemon, pineapple and orange juices provide a crisp backdrop, keeping maltiness at bay. the flavor is very highly sweet and cloying. This is coupled with boisterous acidity and the rseults are tongue-crunching. Peppery yeast and heavier fruit notes make this very unappetizing. This would probably go well with some seafodd, but only in very small doses. The mouthfeel is modestly carbonated but prickly, cloying and sticky and watery. Grassy hops and sweet sugars are tumultuous in the finish.

Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, moderate hoppy, flowers, citrus, rubber - gum notes, coriander. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration. Draft sample at brewery Tap Room, Denver, CO, 8/12/08. Pours clear, urine yellow. Nose is alcohol, slight wheat, mild funk. Taste is bread and apple, dry and mildly fruity, maybe slight alcohol flavor and heat. Relatively tasty.

Hazy straw yellow, estery floral/perfume aroma. I’m not sure if there is wheat in this, but this has a wheaty character to it, along with flowery yeast. Unfortunately there is a rather harsh hot alcohol note in the finish that detracts from the overall palate (which is average at best really).
