Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

pours a classic ipa-ish dark amber, little darker than usual, slightly yellow white head that lingers a good amount of time, sharp hoppy floral smell with malts detectable. this is one of the maltiest but still great ipa’s i’ve ever tasted, a malty bitterness with a hoppy bite, great ipa.

Wow! Take away the chocolate and you have the aroma of a Heath bar backed up by glorious hops. Praise be to the glory of the hops here. Balanced, very drinkable, and creamy. The thin head belies the lacing left on the pint glass. Hercules is a homerun hitter.

I’m not the biggest fan of hoppy beers and this one definitely is very strong in the hops department. However, it manages to balace out some as it gets slightly warmer. Not a bad double IPA. If you are a fan of hops you will love this beer.

Pours copper orange with off white thick froathy head;laces fairly well. Aromas of floral-citrus hops some malt. This is probably the most balanced DIPA I’ve come across - lots of bitter hop, some then sugar up front, strong hop with malty backbone. Excellent!!

Orange/amber color with an off white head that fades leaving nice lacing. Big hop nose - pine, citrus, grapefruit. Fairly malty flavor gives way to the on rush of more hops. Long lingering bitter finish. Alcohol noticeable but not overly so. Excellent.

Bottle@Olympen, Oslo. A thick, stable offwhite head over a hazy, amber-brown colored body. Intense hop aroma, citrus, tropical and resin, supported by a sweeitish caramel scent. Full malt body, quite grainy and fairly sweet, with a generous amount of fruity and piny hops. Thick oily mouthfeel. Nearly full-bodied. Everlasting fruity bitter ending. Very potent, well balanced, and highly enjoyable.

This review is from a while back and from my declining memory. It was a run of the mill double. Not bad and not great. If no other doubles were available you would be very happy with this beer.
