Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Pours amber with a decent cream colored head. Aroma is citrusy grapefruit with some floral notes as well. Taste is big bitter citrus flavor with a big bitter finish with some slight sprucey notes as well. Great.

A wonderful IPA. Pours with very little head, and is a wonderful honey/caramel color. I used a taller glass and just admired the color for a long while. The initial flavor is just a touch floral and piney, but wonderful. It fades to a nice hop flavor, really nice.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden amber with faint particles in suspension throughout. Thick honey white head. Enormous floral hop aromas, with nutty toasted malt in the background. Sweet and thick mouthfeel, with a bit of alcohol coming through. Slow developing finish that turns into a long lasting grapefruit and quinine bitter that lingers in a rather subtle manner for quite some time.

Bottle. Wow. Not for the faint of heart. This is strong stuff. Very hoppy. Tons of lace. Good beer, but I might need a shoulder-ride if I had more than a few.

Pours deep copper with a nice creamy head which leaves a generous lacing. Aroma is hops, flowers, and a bit of sweet caramel. Hops with toffee and pine with just a touch of lemon flavor. Nice medium mouthfeel, bitter but not over done. Nice beer.

Crushed with Jakebra. Bottle from August 08. Pretty sure some hops have died, but this is still pretty nice. Very sweet nose. Burns on the way down. Some good hop presence, but I’m sure this is around a 4 fresh. Rerate: Re-rate. Got a much fresher bottle to crush with Jakebra. Sexy amber pour with a sticky head complemented by a assload of floaties. Woah hops. Straight up hops. Very balanced, if by balanced I meant just hops. Excellent DIPA, and 9.1 alcohol is not apparent, except for the head rush.

22 oz. bottle. Clear copper pour with a thin, off white head. Some lacing. Aroma is a treat, with strong notes of citrus hops and sweet malt. Sticky, sweet mouthfeel. Flavor is nice, but not overly dominated by hops. Good balance of piney and citrus hops. Long, bitter finish. Good beer.
