Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

A great hoppy smack to the chops. Very enjoyable in that american hops overkill way. could do with a bit more balance, but one to reach for in the cooler months

After one beer, this vaults into my top 3 very easily. Reminiscent of/cross between Dogfish’s 90 Min IPA and a Stone Double Bastard, it is very balanced, yet very hoppy. You’d never know it was 9.1% alcohol. Do yourself a favor and pick up a 4 pack.

Bottle. Poured burnished copper with thick lasting head. Much lacing. Fresh pine, floral and citrus notes in the hop. Citrusy flavour with flower notes and a bit of malt to keep it from being too bitter Lasting hop finish. A lekker beer.

Bottle. Amber with a thick off-white head. Aromas are initially tea quickly followed by pine and dry tropical fruit mix. Floral with dusty, prickly notes. Flavours are green, peppery pine with a softening creaminess in the malts. Sweet tropical fruit with bitter grapefruit and a dry woodiness. The alcohol isn’t too evident. Somehow all the strength has been reined in and all that remains is a fairly smooth yet powerful IPA. Very good.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a clear copper color, with a very thin head. Excellent aroma of hops and malt. The flavor is very nice - floral, citrusy hops are balanced nicely with a malt that is assertive but not overwhelming. The 9.1% ABV is nicely hidden. A very nice double IPA.

Bottle. Pours an amber colour with an off-white head. The aroma is hoppy with notes of citrus fruit, resin, pine needles and tropical fruits (pineapple). The flavour is filled to the rim with american hops - citrus and tropical fruits, resin and some pine needleon top. There is also some (malty) sweetness. You cannot feel the alcohol content. The finish is salty, hoppy and bitter. Nice!

On tap at Barley’s Brewhaus in Shawnee, KS. Pours a hazy amber-gold with a creamy, beige head and nice lacing. The nose is big and malty with piny and citric hops in support. Medium-bodied and creamy smooth with a dry, tongue-squeezing bitter finish. Round pale malt with a big hit of the hops quickly following: piny, resinous and lightly citric with a dry, bitter finish. This is a solid beer, but it’s far from being among my favorite IIPAs. Perhaps I’ll have to snag a fresh bomber soon to see if the keg this came from was a bit long-in-the-tooth.

Bottle, 355ml - A rather clear orange-amber colored beer with a nice large beige head. Very sweet aroma with strong hints of caramel and tropical fruits; mainly pineapple and sweet peaches. Big hoppy nose. Flavor is well hoppy and dry. Some sweetness can be found although most of it is overpowered by the hoppiness. Notes of wood and some smokiness is apparent. Very different beer. Suppose this one falls under the category "hopmonster"...
