agillespie81 (190), Denver, Colorado, USA Apr 13, 2008 Deep copper color......thick white head. Extremely floral aroma. Very complex hop flavor up front, with a good malt balance. Mouthfeel is smooth for an IPA, with only a hint of crispness. Finishes with a slight malt back, and a subtle hop bitterness. EithCubes (2140), Indiana, USA Apr 13, 2008 Bottle. Huge piney-floral nose, heavy C-hop but grapefruit and citrus are not unrestrained. Caramel and toffee notes as well, earthier tones meshing well with floral pine. Just a gorgeous hoppy aroma. Deep amber-brown gradient, dark with a luscious creamy beige head - fine-bubbled and spoonably rocky. Strongly bitter and moderately sweet taste of hops, some alcohol burn and residual fumes, loads of hops and a bit of syrup, with an earthy caramel malt base and floral orange peel highlights. Aftertaste is a bit too boozy, and the aggressive taste, while robust, comes off as highly unbalanced. Medium body. Nice, soft water and a dry, slightly nutty finish. Taste of hop resin without the grit. Delicious hoppy burp. There’s great promise here - some tweaking towards more gentleness and this could be exemplary. As it is, somewhat over-the-top and unharmonious. robbmotiwalla (50), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Apr 13, 2008 heavily hopped and malted like the description says. slightly syrupy. hops are piney and floral. lingering bitter wonderfulness chicagodri (1021), Chicago, Illinois, USA Apr 12, 2008 Pours a orange/ruby color with a thin white head. As soon as you open the bottle you can smell the hops. Nice aroma of floral and pine hops. Very solid beer though, with just an overpowering amount of hops in it. Very good, almost a little too bitter. Great Divide really has some good stuff though. EricE (446), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 12, 2008 Updated: Oct 23, 2008Beautiful clear orange-red pour with a thick white head and lots of carbonation and bubbles. Piny hops with lots of flowers and hints of fruit. Very hoppy and bitter. A bit too much for me. Some cream and malt on the finish, but just too much overpowering bitterness. edden (927), cow- lumbus, Ohio, USA Apr 12, 2008 4/11/08: On tap @ Smokehouse. Orange-brown body with a nice almond colored head. Caramel & hop aroma. Malty flavor with a nice hop bitterness – alcohol nicely noticeable. rustychiles (1007), Mesa, Arizona, USA Apr 11, 2008 Pours a reddish orangeish brown with a medium foamy white head. Arom a of hops and malt. Flavor is hoppy, malty and very balanced. I love big hoppy bitter yet sweet and balanced IPA’s like this one. Very nice. BMan1113VR (2757), Los Angeles (and Dallas), Texas, USA Apr 11, 2008 Updated: Mar 24, 2009Pours with a large, creamy, off-white head, covering a hazed amber body with some particles in it. Great lace. Good retention. Aroma is ultra sweet, perfrume hops and some caramel or even chocolate malts. Honey and maybe some orange. Very malty tastes, then a bitter body. Spend a long time sipping this one. Has a bit of orange, more of an American barley wine than a DIPA. Orange and light vanilla with caramel and a hint of special B. Thick body, but a bit too fizzy carbonation.
