IPAGargoyleGuy (139), Troy, NY, New York, USA Apr 2, 2008 Well done double IPA. Good overall flavor with an intense hoppiness. I really like the citrus flavors. Chapel (329), Levittown, New York, USA Apr 1, 2008 Pours orange with a bit of head. Highly hoppy nose. Flavor is very citrus including flavors such as orange and a bit of lemon. Enjoyable for sure and not ’just a hop bomb.’ However, don’t let that comment make it seem like it is not hoppy, just less so than some other IIPAs. Very dry finish. buckyp (32), Rio Rancho, New Mexico, USA Mar 30, 2008 First rating so I may be liberal, but what a beer to start rating with. It lived up to everything and more that people have said. 22 oz. bottle. Color was clear dark amber. Big off-white head (wheat glass...only available at time) with great, lingering lacing. Hoppiness was intense but blended well with malt sweetness to keep the bitterness in check. Although alcohol is on high side, it never interferred with the great hop taste. I’m glad I found this beer! DeadGuyFrank (347), http://westchesterbeer.com, USA Mar 30, 2008 A beer could not have named better...super tasty IPA with tons of floral hop goodness in every taste....this is the kind of beer you should think twice when ordering...they are not calling it HERCULES for nothing! A serious "meaty" IPA for IPA fans everywhere...very well made. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Mar 29, 2008 22 0z. bottle, nice amber color with grapefruit citrus and candy nose, body is pure DIPA, a little hot and bitter on the finish for me hoplover406 (204), Crofton, Maryland, USA Mar 28, 2008 Updated: Jan 5, 2009Helluva beer. Big bottle. Pours orange and amber. Good lacing and retention. Aroma is magnificent. Lemons and lemon candy! Hops, pine, resin, citrus and grass. It’s all in there. Great flavor, not too bitter and very well balanced. Definitely one of the best DIPAs that is out there. Get Some!! The great thing about this beer is that it is so easy to find. FleeVT (40), Boca Raton, Florida, USA Mar 28, 2008 22oz bomber poured into an oversized wine glass. Beautiful hazy glowing burnt yellow with a magnificent cake-like head that lines the glass like icing. Really nice lace on this bad boy. The nose is full of hops with a touch of citrus rind. An extremely clean smelling, well balanced offering with the faintest hints of pine. The hops come through first and strongest, eventually giving way to a grapefruit back then alcohol. Not a whole lot of alcohol on the palate, but you feel it after swallowing; this beer warms your stomach. A nice medium body with a hefty dose of carbonation. Another exemplary offering from Great Divide Brewing. This would pair nicely with summer evening grill fair.
JoeinUccle (902), Brussels, Belgium Mar 28, 2008 One of the best-smelling beers I’ve ever had. The bomber pours amber-orange, slightly hazy with some little guys susended in there. Off-white head persists. Big-citrus nose full of oranges and tangerines; something like hoppy, sticky marmalade. Flavor is bitter from start to finish, beginning with a lightly sweet fruit-juiciness and puffing into dry, gritty hops that claim the finish and offer a loooonnnggg, bitter aftertaste. And hoppy burps. I’m not usually wild about these uber-hopped beers, but that juiciness keeps me interested. Give me some lamb vindaloo or fiery Thai curry with this bad boy.
