gpekar (221), Maryland, USA Jan 13, 2008 Bomber bottle. Poured a clear amber color with a thick, creamy, foamy head. The head had great lacing throughout the glass. A nice hop aroma. There was a great crisp hop bite with a subtle sweetness underneath that mellowed the hopiness. The flavor lasted on the palate for a nice long finish. Great beer darkguardian (506), Florida, USA Jan 13, 2008 IPA’s are not really my cup of tea but I felt I had to try this and despite not being my thing I was very impressed. The smell is incredible and very complex with hints of citrus and pine. The color is equally amazing, a rich orange color thats cloudy with some sediment. Leaves a awesome white billowy head that leave prominent lacing. The taste is very strong with hops as I expected. Quite bitter and biting but still not awful. The finish leaves a very long lasting citrus tang. IPA fans will really love this well made beer. Bigmmartin (366), Dayton, Ohio, USA Jan 12, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a dark, hazy color. Has a delightful citrus taste with strong hoppiness and slightly more bitter than expected. I enjoyed the beer more as it warmed and other floral and nutty flavors were more prevalent. TopherDrinks (96), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Jan 12, 2008 Bomber. Pours hazy Apricot orange with floating bits of sediment. A great off-white head billows and leaves great globs of lacing. Aromas of mostly piney hops with a splash of citrus, resinous hops, and a touch of oily malt. As this warms, a floral dry hopped piney nose dominates. Taste is a punch of piney resinous hops; an astringent slam dunk to the palate! Faint notes of toffee, and caramel malt in the background, but the bitterness prevails. Full bodied and slick, with an extremely dry finish. Sir+Drinksalot (30), Iowa, USA Jan 12, 2008 Hoppy intense lasting finish to this one. Heavy and malty, too. Full of several fruity and fermented flavors; this beer is really brewed well. Great beer, no doubt!
No surprise at all when it comes to this brewer. They have helped change the face of American beers; proving that we can produce some of the world’s best!! hombrepalo (745), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jan 11, 2008 22oz bottle. Deep amber color, i.e. very dark for an India "Pale" Ale. The malty sweetness dominates the initial flavour but the finish is classic: Citric and very bitter. IMHO the beer is almost overbalanced. nothing too special about this IPA, have had better! Tilley4 (218), Huron, Tennessee, USA Jan 10, 2008 I don’t dig this one as much as many others but the floaters in this thing creep me out.
Other than the sediment, it looks pretty good. A bit darker than most IIPAs, nice head as well. But that sediment... this has more than anyone that I’ve ever seen, even the Belgians.
Smells really, really hoppy. Man, this smells good. Maybe a hint of malt but this is all about the malt.
Hoppy ass taste that is also sweet and has sort of a wang to it as well. I like the hops but I don’t like the sweetness.
Not my favorite Great Divide offering (Old Ruffian) but this is still a decent IIPA. ZiggyG (131), Gladstone, Oregon, USA Jan 10, 2008 22 oz. Bomber. Tasted this with a group of friends over Christmas. Pours dark orange and somewhat cloudy. Small head leaves lacing around the edges. Wonderful citrus hops aroma really expresses itself as the beer warms. This beer has had some good dry hopping. The taste is more of the same very citrusy and full of hops. The body of this beer is pretty thick, it has low carb and achieves a nice coating effect. This is a great hophead brew. I really enjoyed it.
