Overall Impression:
I’m pretty sure I’ve had this brew before, but anyway, a friend ordered this one and I tried a bit. Quite tasty and enjoyable, definitely a beer I should drink again.
Hophead22 (1056), Redlands, by way of Wisconsin,, California, USA Aug 2, 2009 Rating #1464 for this beer. 22oz bottle. Deep, dark copper pour, it looks like it should, like you would see in a magazine or something, the kind of look that makes you crave a beer, had a very niceclingy, well lacing light tan head. Very floral, all those good hop aromas in theres, some pine, some citrus all blending very nicely together. Very bitter, at least it was alot more bitter than I thought it would. Not nearly as balanced as I would have liked, but still a tasty DIPA. jbye4334 (652), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA Jul 26, 2009 (bottle). Clear copper color. Medium off white head, which is mostly diminishing. Hoppy aroma. Strong hop and alcohol flavor. Avg duration. Finish with lingering bitterness and alcohol. Slick texture. Soft carbonation. Fair lacing. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Jul 21, 2009 Tap at PIB. Dark amber pour, small white head. Huge hop aroma, pine, grapefruit, floral and light caramel malt. Big hop flavor as well, going from citrus at first to pine and toffee mixed together in mid-sip and finishing with a bitter hop blast. Extremely tasty IIPA. rabidbarfly (57), London, England Jul 21, 2009 Hoppier than most things on the planet.
Massive beer, massive taste, bitter as hell, nose of toffee and hops, tastes as it smells only stronger, quite a bit of alcohol comes through too.
Stays on the palate for ages, love this stuff. tennessejed420 (69), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 20, 2009 pours a classic ipa-ish dark amber, little darker than usual, slightly yellow white head that lingers a good amount of time, sharp hoppy floral smell with malts detectable. this is one of the maltiest but still great ipa’s i’ve ever tasted, a malty bitterness with a hoppy bite, great ipa. reverendj (34), Brunswick, Georgia, USA Jul 19, 2009 Wow! Take away the chocolate and you have the aroma of a Heath bar backed up by glorious hops. Praise be to the glory of the hops here. Balanced, very drinkable, and creamy. The thin head belies the lacing left on the pint glass. Hercules is a homerun hitter. kingalbertstl (3), Missouri, USA does not count Jul 18, 2009 big fan of IIPA...had a big sky IPA last night and it feel a little flat for me...today tried the great divide and found what i was looking for...smooth and creamy with tons of hops and malty goodness...grade A quality stuff..
