Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle picked up from Utobeer at Borough Market, Southwark, London, 27-10-07 Dark amber in appearance with a nice white head and super clarity. Caramel and butterscotch compete for attention with the ever present hops on the nose. A streaky bitterness with pine, citrus some grapefruit pith but well balanced with nice warm honey flavours finishing off proceedings.

Bottled. Deep copper with a medium, off-white head. Floral, grassy, nutty, hoppy seet aroma. Thick and oily palate. Sweet flavour with bitter licorice. Very seet and fruity with a pretty bitter end.

(Stockholm Beer Festival 2005) Hazy orange, nice creamy offwhite head. Very hoppy and spicy aroma, orange and with floral notes, dry and with citrus and grapefruit. Very, very hoppy flavor, dry, grassy, pine notes and some malty notes can also be found next to the almost extreme hoppiness. Great to feel how almost no alcohol comes through.

Bottled. Deep orange colour. Big flowery, pine nose. Aggressive hop bite from start to end. Still good balance of hops and malt. Mandarin notes. Burning alcohol touch. Salty all along, that lasts minutes after, in its hop bitterness. This is more-ish.

On tap @ Falling Rock poured a hazy copper with a creamy offwhite head. Aromas of grapefruit, and orange with a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and resiny. Flavors of grapefruit rind with a bit of carmel and a hint of pine with a bitter end.

Rerate: This time I can safely say that it isn’t too hoppy, it’s just right. Goes down so easy. An awesome IPA.
Original rating: 8*4*7*4*16. Bottle shared with tupalev at Bar Volo. Pours a dark orange with an average frothy white head. Aroma is heavy on the hops and quite citrusy. Just the right amount of carbonation. Flavour has a heavy bitterness with a long finish. The taste: Holy hops!! KAPOW! One sip and it’s like a punch of hops to the lips. I’m a hophead and even I questioned if this was too hoppy? Is that possible? Hides the alcohol really well. Totally unique.

22-oz. bottle. Pours ruby gold with a tall rocky caramel off-white head and great spotty lacing. Sweet fruit hop and a little pine and citrus hop to join in with raspberry and berry notes. Sweet fruit hop start with a pine finish. Light to medium bodied with a clean crisp finish.

Poured a darker orange with a foamy off white head that laced the glass. Strong aroma of bubblegum, orange and floral hops. Strong but very balanced hop flavor, mainly due to the perfect addition of malts. Picking up some grapefruit, other citrus and a pine finish. A great imperial IPA. I think I like DFH’s 90 min a bit more. But this one is still very solid. Glad I picked this up even though I was not farmiliar with the brewery.
