Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Draught at Federal in Durham, NC. Slightly hazy orange-amber color with a creamy off white head. Citrusy, grapefruit hops, alcohol, and taffy dominate the aroma. LOTS of grapefruit. Slightly sweet with a nice bitter hop finish. Very good.

Bomber purchased at Chevy Chase Wine and Liquor in DC. Probably a year old now, should have cracked it earlier but didn’t so that is life. Pours orange with a big 2 finger creamy tan hed in my duvel tulip. Nose is big and hoppy with some piney notes. Taste is sweet, citrussy and full of a nice balanced malt backbone as well. The sweetness here is more reminscent of an east coast DIPA, but this would be a mountain region brew. Really pretty solid. Not quite as good as some of the SD DIPAs but damn nice in its own right.

Dark coppery colored, little yellow head. Strongly caramelly aroma with flowers and hops, hops get of course stronger when bottle gets warmer. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also good with caramelly and flowery bitterness, aftertaste is extremely strong and lasting. Maybe somehow little bit of too sweet for what I expected, still world class brew.

Clear orange color, short frothy head, bit lace. Heavy aroma of hop, cascade, bit fruity of grapefruit and citrus, some malt. Very bitter taste, strong, slightly alcoholic. Belly warming. Very bitter palate.

Bottle from total wine. Amber pour wtih a pretty nice head. Aroma is citrus and herbal hops. Flavor is pretty bitter and hoppy. For me it could have used a tad more malt, but it was still a good as hell IIPA.

Clear orange/amber. Very big head and lacing, long lasting. Subtle enticing aroma. Very malty, too sweet. Almost barleywine-like. Very hoppy dominant flavour and presence.

DBF 2005. Amber, good lasting off white head and good condition. Good resinous hop and background sweet caramel malt notes in the nose, full bodied in the mouth with the hefty caramel sweetness more than amply balanced by solid resinous hops. Lingering hoppy finish with a tingling bitterness.

botlte at home. best before not printed by lazy brewer, so i guess if this bottle is 6 years old, and i rate it low, who’s to blame.. great divide... get those dates on the bottles dudes, i bought this bottle 5 days ago but who knows how long it took to get to scandinavia. orange, large thick white head. aroma is hoppy, flowery, malty. flavor is a little stale hops, otherwise very hoppy and sweet from malts. the hops are quite dry, quite powerfulll, yields a nice dry end.
