Pours a slightly hazy amber with a genrous, rich yellow/white head that lasted to the bottom of the glass with very nice lacing. Real nice aroma of grapefruit, citron and pine. The flavors match the aroma quite well with a touch of caramel noted as well. Almost silky mouthfeel. Bitter, but not acrid. The 9.1% alcohol was well hidden. Very good stuff! mar (1972), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | May 13, 2005 a touch cloudy copper color w/ a big frothy white head that laces well and stays well. smells of fucking num.... a big citrus hop and a nice blend of carmel malts and maybe a little cloves or something a touch spicy in the finish of my nose. Palate is a bit creamy and coats well is a 3.5 really. Flavor is a big bitter citrus malt w/ lots of full matl backing a real good balance of the malt and hop but a bit simple. I chased a ruination w/ this and this was better in my opinon. Jim thanks for bringing this one. hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 8, 2007 Bottle from BierKoning. Another delicious IPA. A copper colour with a spicy nose of coriander, citrus and hops. Punchy, citrusy and nutty taste. Prickly mouthfeel. But also very smooth and delicious. Finishes nice and bitter. Didn’t even notice the alcohol content. Can only imagine what this is like on tap... Slick (1962), Thief River Falls, Minnesota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 11, 2004 Very nice dark amber color, small off white head that lasted for a nice long time then faded to a small but decent lace. The aroma was hoppy as hell with a nice citrusy crapefruit side and mild malt.Malty hoppy taste with plenty of grapefruit, pine tree and bitterness to go along way.The alcohol really doesn’t seem to make it’s presence known until the very end where all i get is a mild burn going down.Long bitterness all the way to the end of the tasting with a decent bitterness in the after taste to go along with the grapefruit. It’s a bit more hoppy then i care for but over all it’s a very good brew. Thanks go to Whaleman for sending another great brew my way. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 26, 2008 Bronze with nice, modest creamy lather of head. Arom of PNW hops and piquant, prickly pine and citrus. Burst of citrus again rounded out by pine and wonderful hops. This is truly a top contender in the IPA/American Strong Ale class. So much flavor packed into this, with the alcohol superbly masked. I will have to revisit this one--might deserve a higher rating.
