Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Deep copper in color, nice fluffly off-white head, huge hop aroma, full bodied, flavors were very well balanced, notes of pine, citrus, a slight touch of toffee, excellent malt profile to counter the huge amount of hops, very bitter & dry finish, lots of pine & nutty notes, very well done, great IIPA

Bottle Poures a hazy orange amber with a huge fluffy head that was off white and lasted till the bottom of the glass. Strong aromas of hops, the citrusy kind, and sweet malts. Some fruity notes as well Flavors seemed very well ballanced. The hops were strong but in a blunt way. The swet maltiness was a nice compliment and the two tangod in my mouth untill I had to crash theur party with a roobust gulp. Nice full fairly heavy feel and an appropriate lingering bite. Very nice, but as far as the elite 2IPAs I’ll still go with the 3F

Bottle. Dingy orange body with two to three fingers of khaki head. Aromas are sublimely hoppy... pine and grapefruit with a little bit of floral background notes. Flavor is sweet at first, but the hops bite comes through relatively quickly... malt is a little darker than most IPA’s... more toffee like than caramel and there is a little bit of a woody/earthy note to it as well. Hops are well done and held in check nicely byt malt, to keep thing from getting too out of hand, but the tradeoff is that this comes off as a fairly sweet and syrupy IPA.

(Draught at Hilpeä Hauki, Helsinki, on 2009-04-19) Dark amber and hazy. Medium sized white head. Strong fruity and citric aroma of hops. Full bodied and dryish palate with medium carbonation. Malts, grass, pine, bitterness, saltiness, salty liquorice, frutiness, toffee and lot of hops in taste. Hops and bitterness in aftertaste.

Every time I have this I find it to be pretty solid. Aroma is balanced. Lost of hops with caramel and grain. Good body and juicy hop flavor. Some caramel malts and citrus flavor. Grapefruit and lemon zest. Balanced.

Bu au Mondial de la bière 06. Couleur de thé noir, petit collet beige pale. Arome d’houblon délicieux. Goût d’houblon et d’alcool, avec un arrière goût qui brule légèrement sur la langue.

Bottle. Pours a clear orange with a thick white head. Aroma of citrus hops, cracker malt, and sweet caramel malt. Flavor is quite malty--crackery and caramel. Some dark fruits and raisiny notes. A good IPA...not sure if this is old or if it’s supposed to be like this, but I didn’t get much hops from this. So it was just ok. 7/4/8/4/14 Ɠ.7/5)

Update 8/29/09: Got a fresh bottle and it was much hoppier this time. Still lots of crackery malt and sweet malt but also lots of citrus. No dark fruits/raisins. Very drinkable and pleasant. 7/4/8/4/15 Ɠ.8/5)
