Fresh grapefruit and orange Jell-O. Grass and brown sugar. Candied orange peel anchors the taste leading the way to a long, bitter hop presentation. Ends mostly with pith and dripping hop oil. I found it a bit harsh and uni-dimensional but still a solid double. Jokes (1453), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 22, 2004 Slightly hazy rustic amber with a thick, fluffy white head that leaves awesome lacing and comes from really cool tight bubbles. Sweet, hoppy aroma with grapefruit, lemon zest, pine resin, sticky toffee and whole grains. A lovely, soft body with elegant carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. The flavor is tremendous. An initial crazy bitterness that shocks the tongue. Eventually, when the taste buds adjust, some chewy caramel, coarse grains, doughy bread and sweet citrus and pine come in to couterbalance the bitterness. The finish shows more hop glory and leaves the tongue yearning for more. Extremely hoppy and absolutely luscious. I don’t consider myself a hophead and normally this would be too much, but this was just spectacularly tasty and full. I’d love to get a beer engine and a firkin of this. I think that would make this heavenly. SuIIy (1452), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA

Lost of hops with caramel and grain. Good body and juicy hop flavor. Some caramel malts and citrus flavor. Grapefruit and lemon zest. Balanced. GreatLibations (1444), Last Supper, Arizona, USA
| 5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Apr 24, 2006 Pours an almost orange tinted honey color with a full creamy froth with record breaking hangtime. Let me tell you, the froth could be compared to heavy whipping cream. I could have drank a full glass of this froth and been just as happy =). Aroma is of sweet citrus rind. Flavors of crisp pine, citrus, and vanilla bean w/ a mellowing caramel creaminess on the way down. Well ballanced and the alcohol is dangerously imperceptible. This is on my list of all time favorite brews, overall. I highly recommend. holdenn (1443), Chicago, Illinois, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2007 Moon River Brew Tap, Savannah. Pours a dark copper color. Wow, aroma is just a huge snout full of hops, grapefruit, and pine. Some nice malt in the flavor to balance things out. This is just a wonderful over the top beer that I would totally have again. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 29, 2009 Dark rouge pour. Woody hops on the nose with earthy elements. Very creamy mouthfeel. Taste is soil hops. Has a clay feeling with hops that came from the ground. Has also a small amount of fruit, but not citrus. Dark fruits, but only in the slightest. A heavily aged double. But flavorful.
