Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle. Aroma of citrus and piny hops, big biscuity malt, pretty evenly divided. Flavor again evenly divided between sweet, semi-sticky malts and juicy hops. Very good if not wowing.

hazy orange, tight white head. a knuckle sandwich of huge piney hops in the aroma with perfume, grapefruit and caramel. flavour follows and is super hoppy and bitter. pine dominates again with more grapefruit and toffee-ish soothing malt. a hop monster with style

12 oz. bottle - Hercules Hercules Hercules!! Pours cloudy amber with long lasting white head; very strong aromas of hops and malt; well balanced tastes with the malt flavors slightly stronger than the hops, which is just the way I like, as a DIPA/IIPA is more than just about the strong hops

Everything was perfect that day. The indian food was excellent and all temperatures at best values. A hoppybomb with a citrusy flavor in perfect balance.

22 oz bottle: Full off-white ‘holey’ head – intriguing lace. Beautiful & enticing caramel pine-hop aroma, so soft it puts the mind into a dream trace…clear bronze. Deep pine flaovurs – sticky sap, gooey caramel & sweet resin with a long hop flower bite in the finish. Amazing – this really is a session double IPA? Creamy & smooth palate. The finish is a mix of great bitterness & herbal qualities…what a beer!

12 oz bottle. Pours a rich creamy amber. Smoked meat (ham/bacon?) on the nose...odd but intriguing. Floral and chocolate notes deveolpe. Very hoppy on the palate. Some smoke, chocolate citrus and floral notes. Hoppy and grapefruit-y finish. A very interesting beer.

First off, Great Divide - start distributing to California! Anyway, I had a bottle of this at the Brickskeller in DC, which is pretty much twice as far from Denver as I live, but they get GD beers and we don’t. This is a very good DIPA. Orangish-copper color with a nice white head and good lacing. Aroma is piney and citrusy hops and sweet malt. Flavor is sweet, toffeeish caramel malt balanced by lots of fresh-tasting pine and citrus and hop bitterness lingering on the finish. Hop oils on the palate, medium-full for the style. Re-rate: had this again on tap at Great Divide tasting room. This falls a tiny bit flat on flavor, really not standing up to some of the better IPAs out there. Have to knock it down from a 8 to 7 on flavor and 16 to 15 overall. Still really good though.
