Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Bottle. Reddish amber. Pretty much a typical west coast IPA and I don’t see why this is a top 50, especially when I’ve had lots of nice IPAs lately with malts in them that balance them out soooooo much better. Hop juice.

Bomber courtes of mreusch (thank, Matt!) Pours a nice deep clear copper color with a two finger, cream colored head that diminishes to considerable lacing. Nose is very sweet, with pineapple and floral hop aroma, with a atouch of caramel. The flavor is spot on, but not quite as strong as the nose. Very enjoyable, with caramel, yielding to a touch of bitterness, and finishing dry and clean. Very good beer.

deep golden, orangeish color, with an eggshell white head..not thick, but lasting. aroma is quite strong on the piney hops, floral and herbal qualities, and lots of buttery toffee, and a moderate amount of perspiration. The flavor is essentially the same only with the alcohol being slightly detectable. Excellent creamy mouthfeel. Damn well-balanced. This beer truly gives the Dreadnaught a run for its money.

Had this is 5/17/2004. Aroma is fresh and hoppy. Color is a hazy orange with good carbonation and a nice head. Taste is bold and hoppy. Starting with a full/medium body that goes down with a bold rich feel. Finish comes on with a rich malty flavor that is backed by a fresh hop flavor and a full hop bitterness. OK this is the best beer Great Divide has ever made. This beer kicks ass, it is full of flavor, it’s rich, hoppy, and bitter, and all of this is very well balanced. The only bad thing is, it is a bit rich, not like Arrogant Bastard, in fact it seems mild compared it that, but it is still a great beer.

12 oz. bottle - Hercules Hercules Hercules!! Pours cloudy amber with long lasting white head; very strong aromas of hops and malt; well balanced tastes with the malt flavors slightly stronger than the hops, which is just the way I like, as a DIPA/IIPA is more than just about the strong hops

Bottled 355ml. Ordered from crackedkettle.com. It pours a bautiful, slightly hazy deep copper beer with a small bubbly light beige head. Quinces, mango, lychee, walnuts, raisins, mint, liquorice allsorts and a lot of blueberries showing up in the aroma. Surprisingly sweet taste. Nice balance between malt and hops. Decent bitterness. Hints of blueberries, liquorice allsorts, caramel, figs, walnuts, mango, pine needles and strawberries in the flavor. Peppery components emerging on the swallow. Complex and full bodied. Syrupy. Subtle carbonation. Some lacework. Long peppery finish which is reminiscent of licorice, mint and hop resin. Not a great example of a Double IPA.

This is great DIPA but almost overpowering as far as the hops go. Pours an orange color with a small acidic head. Tastes of pine, grapefruit, and hops. Good but strong.

Draught at "Italia Beer Festival 2008" - Brescia.
Dark red color, nearly brown. Optimal aroma, powerful and decided with balsamic notes of flowers, blows, red wine, stum. Much alcoholic and solid taste. Homogenous, mellow, long-lasting and aromatic.
