Those are just some of the aromas I picked up. Very complex aroma! Appearance: Poured a deep honey color, with dark orange highlights. Creamy looking light tan head. Good lacing on this one. Flavor: First flavor I picked up was apricot, followed bu a delicious sweet malt flavor, and then a punch in the head by the hops. Bitterness is all back of the tongue, leaving the front and middle tongue to experience some great caramel and citrus flavors. Picking up grapefruit in the back of the mouth bitterness. Palate: Full bodied with medium carbonation. Long finish which is filled with hop bitterness. Overall: This is a fantastic beer! Very hoppy, but enjoyably so. One of my problems with some IIPAs is that the malt sweetness can get a little cloying. Not here! A great balance of malt sweetness and a huge hop flavor. The easiest drinking IIPA I’ve had to date. abb73 (27), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 29, 2006 Wonderful citrusy hop aromas, with a deep hazy copper color. Rich floral hop flavors are balanced perfectly by a sweet toffee maltyness. This is an IPA that you can just sit back and savor. drawde (115), San Francisco, California, USA

Light brown-apricot color and hazy. Beautiful stinging flavor; appropriately lighter malt balance. Lasting sting with nice warming alcohol. This one’s a winner. I gotta get one of these home and taste next to my favs. Much respect Great Divide. techdiver (22), USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | May 5, 2007 Pours a beautiful clear orange copper with a nice head that dissipates slowly leaving a small cap and generous lacing.
Hops and grapefruit to the nose.
Taste is well balanced for this style. Of course the hops predominate to some extent; wouldn’t match the style if it didn’t.
Smooth and medium bodied, just a bit more carbonation would be nice.
Drinkability is quite good, for a DIPA it ranks as one of the best.

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jan 9, 2007 pours a dark orange copper color with a two figer off white fluffy head. aroma is of mixed fruit orange, mango, and maybe some apple and watermelon.has a little hops and sweet malt but mostly a fruity aroma. medium body with nice lacing and the head lasts about a 1/4 to a 1/2 the way down the pint. aroma is definetly stronger as it warms and head disappears. flavor is mango, a little orange, and a little pine and sweet malt. very smooth and very well balanced. has a little spicey bite at the end with a little carbonation. i also noticed a little bread aroma and flavor as it warms. an awsome 2ipa i like it a lot and is a good alternative to the expensive 3 f"s dreadnaught about half the price! thefederalist (227), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA

Pours a rich orange-copper, with a miserly head that leaves nice lacing down the glass. Aroma is of sweet malts, fruit and faint American hops. Flavor is sweet and hot with alcohol, though the ABV is not astringent or phenolic in any way, more felt than tasted, just warming down the back of the throat. I would not say this has an aggressive hop profile for a IIPA, but for a barlywine, it really rounds out nicely, perfectly balanced, except maybe including an extra dose of aroma hops in the finish. Just delicious. CurlyBill (9), Ooltewah, Tennessee, USA does not count | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jul 17, 2008 22 oz. bomber. Pours amber with a head that lasts. Had a strong piney/citrus hop aroma. Flavor hit me with some caramel followed by huge hop bitterness on the end. A well balanced beer that is very enjoyable and hides the 9% alcohol pretty well. Overall an excelent DIPA. beerandIT (189), Richmond, Virginia, USA
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 8, 2009 Oh how I miss this beer readily available where I live. Beautiful dark amber color. It is a bit off balanced with citrus and hops dominating but thats why I love this double ipa. A bit of malt and a ton and another ton of hops on the palate followed closely behind with hints of pine and citrus flavors all destroying your tongue. Nice and smooth drinking still for hop heads and people that just appreciate great beer. Also laces the glass all day long. As a nice amount of head that sticks around on the initial pour as well. Lets get this guy back in richmond, va!
