Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Pours a very cloudy copper with a small off-white head. I can actually smell the hops in this beer from where I sit a few feet away. Upon closer inspection, citrus fruit and a slight sweetness is revealed in the aroma, in addition to the huge hop presence. Flavor is absolutely dominated by hops - piney, fresh, bitter good-ness. Grapefruit and other citrus fruits are also present. This lacked the overwhelmingly syrupy taste I had issues with in the DFH 90 Minute and Stoudt’s Double IPA, while still possessing a full, round feel. A great beer.

Had it at The Falling Rock on tap and at home in the bottle. Aroma is of resiny big Northwest hops with some malt to back it up. Medium amber color with big off-white head. Oh, the flavor, joy, joy, joy. Huge hops throughout. Nicley bitter, good hop flavor and lingering bitter aftertaste, with somewhat toasty malt to balance. Truly outstanding Impy IPA. This one and 90-minute are the best I have had.

Wow, what a beer. Part of the huge lot of beer I bought for my big 21st. I have a soft spot for hoppy IPAs, so this is right up my alley. Definitly a very agressive IPA. Flavor has an expected alcohol kick and of course a TON of hops. Very very bitter.

One of the most deceptive double IPA’s I’ve ever encountered. Nice round malt, gives backbone but backs down and let’s the hops have a word. The Aroma is typical of all good big IPA’s. the bittering hops react in a weird way with the malt. They aren’t quite together, but at the same time they don’t cause any friction. I was expecting something a little different, but the dance ends with a suprisingly smooth IPA. Both myself and others tasting missed the abv. % We placed it around 8%; very nicely intergrated.

Aroma is super hoppy, grassy citruis a bit of toffee. Taste is seriously hoppy with a great bitter attack, but so easy to drink a must for the future.

22oz bottle - Pours a beautiful copper copper transparent color with an offwhite rocky head as big as the mountain on the bottle. The head lingers and laces all the way down the glass. Beautiful. Probably the best looking IIPA I’ve seen yet. Aroma is grapefruit, pine cones and sunkist oranges. The flavor is some good sweet orangelike citrus flavors upfront backed up and blended quite well with some nice caramel malts which quickly and crisply end with a nice bitter smack in the face to finish off each sip. This one is good. On the palate this is quite heavy for a beer of this color. It coats the mouth quite well yet finishes fairly crisp and clean. Amazingly drinkable and the alcohol is almost undected. Very well done..

Pours a pale, lightly hazy orangey copper with a frithy 1/2 inch ivory head. Leaves sheets of lace. Smells strongly of grapefruit and tangerine. Some peach and mandarin orange. Not a bitter or biting hops aroma but very sweet citrus. Tastes tangy and bitter. A sweet citrus offset and intermingles with a biting bitterness. Tangerine very evident as well as grapefruit, orange rind and light peach. Mouth is lightly sticky and has a long biter hoppy aftertaste. You can lick the alpha acids off your teeth. Very tasty...I Like it!!!
