Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

Appearance: Pours out a wonderfully clear orange-amber color with a pillowy, off-white head. Smell: What a winning aroma! A fresh assortment of juicy citrus fruits served with bread dough and orange blossom honey. Taste: Mild, smooth butterscotch sweetness provides a solid malt foundation that tapers off into a full salvo of orangy hop flavors that are a touch peppery. Renewed accents of toasted caramel lead into a dry, piney finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied and quite creamy with a soft carbonation. Drinkability: Plenty of intense hop flavors and bitterness offset by a rich, malty sweetness. That settles it, Great Divide’s Hercules is a very well made Double IPA.

Draft at Brouwer’s Cafe Hopfest ’06. Dark amber, garnet color. Huge piney nose. Small head, light lace. Big dry biscuit malts in the mid-palate, though they’re overwhelmed by harsh resins starting there and carrying through the finish. Crisp finish that keeps the door open for just a second, letting that cool hop breeze blow just a bit longer. The GF says it tastes like burnt berries. Not sure if that’s good or bad, but it seemed accurate enough that I include it here for your consideration.

Top of the heap. Great aroma of pine, citrus as you open the bottle. Pours a dark copper like a 75 Firebird I had once. Taste is very sharp and clean. Leaves you wanting more. Way to easy to drink.

Very bitter beer, went well with a cheesesteak. I would recommend seeking this beer out if you’ve never tried it

1 pint bottle. Hazy amber color. Lovely beige head. It´s hoppy all the way - as I love it. Floral and fruity, some caramell sweetness. A very balanced beer, with well hidden alcohol.

Pours a cloudy amber with large head. Thousands of pocket clouds throughout the glass. Smells of pine, hops, citrus, and flowers. Powerful hop/pine taste with a smooth piney bitter finish.
