Commercial Description:
Hoppier, maltier and with more alcohol than a standard IPA, Hercules Double IPA definitely is not for the faint of heart. Hercules Double IPA is, however, an elixir fit for the gods. A brash but creamy wonder, Hercules pours a deep orange-coppery color, forming substantial lace in the glass. Hercules Double IPA delivers a huge amount of piney, floral, and citrusy hop aroma and flavor from start to finish. A hefty backbone of nutty, toffee-like malt character balances Hercules' aggressive, punchy hop profile. 85 International Bittering Units (IBUs).

12oz. bottle. Pours a hazy apricot with a cream clingy head and some small floating yeast. Aroma of intense pine, lemon, and caramel. Flavor is full-bodied, over the top, and utterly delicious. I tasted sweetening notes of caramel malt, a touch of roasts, and some ripe fruit. This is, however, all superbly complemented by a barrage of fresh, crisp hops that yield flavors of grapefruit, lychee, lemon, and of course, much bitterness. The palate on this brew is surprisingly crisp, and the finish is nice and long. Finish is bitter primarily (it is a double ipa!), but still well balanced to me: hop-centric, yet backed by a good helping of malt. This is a standout.

Just about what you’d expect from Great Divide in the way of an IPA. 22 ozs. of hoppy goodness. A beautiful copper hue and a piny aroma are just the beginning of a true d2 IPA experience. Way far into the rotation.

22 oz bomber. Poured a clear amber color with a huge white head. Citrus aroma. Very hoppy taste, but well balanced. Great beer.

RE RATE: Copper orange with satisfying head. Aroma is of pine/citrus hops and malts...yum! Alcohol is well masked by well balanced flavor of hops and malts. It definitely has a malty backbone and has a crisp bitter finish. It has a creaminess about it that is unbelievable. I don’t know how Great Divide does it but it is the same creaminess that Yeti has. It is to be appreciated.

Disclaimer: I’m a hophead. Beautiful reddish amber color with slight haze, topped by a creamy head. Aroma is hop city, with pine and citrus. Smells like I imagine and hope Washington state smells. Taste is hop-dominated, but the malt is surprisingly present for a DIPA. I never noticed the high alcohol, and it finished bitter.

12oz bottle. Orangish-Brown pour. Great, powerful aroma of pine, citrus, and possibly Simcoe hops. The first taste is a bitter blast, followed by an enormous burst of grapefruity citrus. A slight taste of alcohol only complements the complexity. Warm, fuzzing feeling completes the drink. GREAT beer.

I have had this befoe a while back but just recently had again the a beer festival near Loveland, CO. The overall flavor and mouthfeel is just about second to none. Between this, Boulder Beer’s Mojo and Odells IPA, this, I think, is the best in Colorado. The others may have a little smoother drinkability but when I want an overpowering, highly flavored IPA, I go with this one everytime. Cheers.
