Some sediment floating in there. Head starts thick and then settles to a thin layer which remains for the rest of the glass. Aroma is big earthy, piney hops with good citrus in the background. Flavour starts with a fresh piney bitterness, followed by earthy notes and refreshing citrus, along with a good amount of smooth, lightly nutty malt to round things out. The finish is nicely bitter but far from overwhelming or ridiculously aggressive. The hops, though very evident and forward, are always well tempered. The mouth feel on this is extremely think and creamy, while the flavour is robust as well as floral. Some alcohol notes creep through in the finish but are subtle and well integrated amongst the bitterness at the end. Lovely stuff! Definitely one of the finest double IPA’s I’ve had so far. Very smooth (likely thanks to the big malt presence). I love it! realale420 (399), west covina, California, USA

Aromas were awesome floral citrus and pine with a touch of carmel sweetness. Can’t taste the alcohol in this one absolutely brilliant taste with great bitterness and a nice dry hoppy finish. Definitely a beer I would recommend to all hopheads. Stefano (1334), Esbjerg, Denmark

Wonderful hop aroma. A wonderful beer. Much better balanced than the likes of some DIPAs. Great beer all around.

| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Mar 7, 2007 This starts with a hint of citrus and an underlying sweetness to the aroma, and pours a cloudy orange with a thin white head that sticks to the glass. The flavor is a nice balance of hop bitterness riding atop a solid level of malts. The alcohol content is very well hidden in this beer, and while not my favorite, a good solid IIPA. smythe7 (3), Colorado, USA does not count | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 18, 2006 Updated: Oct 17, 2006I love this beer, although I would prefer a longer after taste. Aroma is of pine, hops, with sweet honey notes. The flavours are amazing, toffee malt backbone with a good strong smack in the face of hops. Nice mouthfeel with a good tasty dry hop finish. I really enjoyed this beer, one of the best IPA I’ve ever tasted. SuzyGreenberg (1368), Seattle, Washington, USA

Pours cloudy amber with long lasting white head; very strong aromas of hops and malt; well balanced tastes with the malt flavors slightly stronger than the hops, which is just the way I like, as a DIPA/IIPA is more than just about the strong hops
