Commercial Description:
English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale -- it has been Great Divide’s winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

Bottle- Dark amber brown pour, decent foam head and lacing. Malt smooth with some nutty notes. A little roast and some spice with a good hop blend, some dry sweetness there as well. Nice winter warmer.

(Draught at Pikkulintu, Helsinki, on 2009-03-18) Amber and almost clear. Small white head. Sweet and malty aroma. Full bodied and dry palate with medium carbonation. Malts, saltiness, some fresh malt flavours, bit of sweetness, caramell, bit of grass, fruitiness and bitterness in taste. Malty and bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Knightly Spirits I believe. Pours a rich amber with a small off white head. Aroma has a nice hoppy aroma and some great caramel malts. I also get some animal crackers. Flavor is hoppy and malty. A bit of roasted malt melds well with the hops. Very well done.

Pours a nice amber with a thick head that dissipates quickly. Thick lacing. Nice malty aroma. Thick mouthfeel, with good bite. Very toasty and malty flavor with lots of coffee malts. Slightly bitter aftertaste. It basically tastes like a Fat Tire, except with a coffee malt base. Not one for hopheads, but a very nice beer.

Bottle. Mahogny body with a creamy off white head. Lots of malt, dark fruit and hops in aroma. Complex malty flavour with some spices, chocolate, mollasses and hops. Smooth silky mouthfeel.

Pours a dark amber. Nose is very unique kind of earthy. That earthy flavor is very noticeable in the Flavor. Full Bodied. Very Interesting Beer.

Bottled Poured a hazy copper color with a thin beige head. Very complex; dark fruit, caramel malt, and spice are all present. Definitely wasn’t blown away. Maybe it would be nicer aged?

Dark amber pour with a thick beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, a touch of cocoa and berry-like fruitiness. Spicy, fruity, sweet and smooth. Very rich and very tasty.
