Commercial Description:
English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale -- it has been Great Divide’s winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

Pours a hazy orange with small tan head. Pick up some sweetness and alcohol in the nose. Flavor is unusual. Cocoa, vegetal, malty, sweet, bitter. This was a pretty fresh bottle, so i’d be interested in trying some vintage stuff.

i’ve always been a fan of this brew. This is 04 Vintage! Pours a medium dark amber but still see thru! Small head and medium bodied. Smell is of brown roasted sugar and malt. Taste Has mellowed. I Think i’ve caught this one at it’s peek. Usually i think of this one as a great chocolate milk for adults. This beer is good, and all flavors have married. Cheers Conway!!!!!

The bottle looks really good, the beer in the glass also. Very complex aroma. Starts very strong and intense - like a barleywine. A bit roasty-smoky, becomes milder in the end. Very good beer!

Pours a dark burgundy with small white head leaving scattered lacing, somewhat clear. Alcohol aroma with some strong hop and dark malt aroma’s along with some spiciness. Much lighter body than I expected creating an appreciated drinkability to it. Strong hoppy bitterness and nice roasty flavors coming through. Very distinct and damn good.

Pours a deep amber/crimson colour with a small creamy beige that fades quickly. The nose is dominated by toffee notes with toasted bready malts and hints of cocoa. The flavour brings fourth a nice piney hop bitterness atop a rich coffee, toffee and roasty chocolate malt backbone. The finish is long and roasty with delicious coffee and toasty bread flavours with citric hops overlain. The body is medium/full with soft carbonation and a drying finish.

Bottle from Utobeer. Reddish amber in colour with a slight, off-white head. Malty aroma of powdered chocolate, dried fruit and spice, with a lot of pine hops. Big mouth feel, leaving a coating of chocolate. Spade loads of malt collide head on with grapefruit hops, before a long dry finish with plenty of warming alcohol. Too extreme and disjointed for me.
