Commercial Description:
English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale -- it has been Great Divide’s winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

Bottle. Nutty sweet spicy. Caramel and a candy sweetness. Lots of spice- cinnamon, clove, nutmeg. Light toasty flavors. Mahogany body with a thin swirly head. Sharp up front but thick and hearty. A good winter beer with a well rounded spice character.

Wow I really liked this brew. Its malty brown with scents of roasted caramel. Its fairly havey in the mouth and tastes fo matly goodness, some bitter hops and a slight bit of pine. The bitter finish lasts a good long time. Superbly balanced.

Bottle. Pours red/brown with a sticky tan head. Aroma is piny hops first, which give way to caramel, roast, and fruit. Medium/full body. Smoke and roast hit the tongue first, followed by a sweeter caramel and fruit note and finishes with a nice grassy and piny bitterness. Very good.

Rich red-Mahagony with small off-white head. Chocolate, caramel, roast malts, and fruit dominate the nose. Flavor is salty malt dominance with caramel, but the hops really add some balance. Palate is perhaps a little sticky. Great Divide wins again.

Pours dark garnet red with tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, hazelnut. Flavors are sweet and similar to aromas with some hops and spices. Full body with average carbonation and a syrupy mouthfeel.
