Commercial Description:
English-style Old Ale. Hibernation Ale is Colorado’s original strong ale -- it has been Great Divide’s winter seasonal each year since 1995. Hibernation’s massive flavors are so intense that it requires over three months of aging each year. This lengthy aging process gives Hibernation its revered malty richness, complex hop profile and hearty warming character, which is perfect right out of the bottle or cellared for longer periods of time.

Beige thick medium lasting head. Brown colour with reddish shines. Aroma is malty with caramel and light spicy notes. Flavor is malty too with strong coffee and roasty tones, developing in fruity accents and ending in a moderately roasty finish. Medium bodied.

Deep red-brown colour with thick creamy head. Aroma is very sweet. Malt comes through strongly. Full, rich taste with some typical winter warmer flavours. Dry hoppy finish.

Big fat head, slowly diminishing. Heavy aroma, malty and sweet and a robust bitterness. A bit too strong in alcohol, but just a it. Definetly soething I could bring for an hibernation exercise.

12 oz bottle-cloudy, dark amber color w/a moderate white head. Roasted malt aroma, burnt malt flavor. Not roasted, burnt. hoppy w/a bitter finish. This one didn’t do much for me, the longer I drank it the less I liked it.

Bottle. Pours a wonderful deep dark ambur with reddish hough. A small tightly bubbled off-white head. Dense lacing. Nose is hops with a background of wet earth and dark fruits. Taste is strong hops and bitter earthiness, finishing with dark fruit esters and a hint of coffee. very nice strong ale.
