| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 17, 2007 Poured from a 12oz bottle and served in a pint glass. This beer poured a completely clear, dark red hued amber color. A medium-sized tan head quickly faded away into a thin layer of foam. Some heavy lacing coated the entire glass. The aroma of the beer was made up of roasted caramel malts, toffee, mild bakers chocolate, and also some floral hops. The flavor included pale English malts, caramel, light chocolate, and mildly bitter pine. The mouthfeel was full-bodied with light carbonation. A very tasty brew. If it had to be categorized, I think it would be considered an English DIPA. Well done. hellbilly (1532), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA

Medium body with mellow mouthfeel. Flavor ends with a orange and cherry. I was a little disappointed in this beer. HomeBrewHawk (279), De Soto, Kansas, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 16, 2007 12oz brown bottle served in a shaker pint. Pours a clear dark copper with a slight tan head. Malty caramel aroma. Huge malt flavor, full bodied.
Lots of toffee, some dry cocoa in the middle. Nice amount of hops to balance it out. Long lingering dry malt finish.
I really like this beer, it is like an American interpretation of an Old Ale, very much to the malty side.
A little too much alcohol to be really drinkable. After a couple you really start to feel it. This has been one of my holiday favorites the last few years. popephred (193), Plainfield, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 16, 2007 Initial pour produced a reddish-brown body topped by a rocky tan head of foam which slowly diminished. A very full aroma of malty chocolate which covered up any notes of alcohol (very nice.) A sweet flavor which slowly converts to a bitterness. A medium carbonation combines nicely with toasted coffee notes with some hints of alcohol. The aftertaste, which was a strong toasty hoppiness, diminished rather quickly. This is a strong ale with a great nose reminiscent of a good stout. I knew I was going to like this ale from the first sniff and was not disappointed. I picked this up at Binny’s in one of their mixed six packs. Get this one, if you see it! redgold07 (308), Irving, Texas, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 15, 2007 This is a great one, even though my bottle had three labels on it. Tastes more like an English Strong ale than an American... not nearly as hoppy as most. Sweet and dark, and the higher alcohol content is not present in the taste.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Nice winter ale. Taste of an English Strong. Almost like Avery Jubilation, but not as strong or dark. I don’t think I’d call tis a strong ale. More like a dark semi dark English strong.
