Aroma boasts some soapy English hops and pale, almost biscuity malty notes. Body starts with a smooth bready English maltiness and good bittering hoppy balance toward a fairly full, crisp finish. A nice American version of the English style. JB175 (1664), Bucks County, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 30, 2006 Deep golden amber color with medium white head. Aroma is classic ESB with some sweetness & hops, just a bit on the weak side. Taste is nicely balanced between light hops & sweet malts. The weakness? Just a bit plain, but of high quality nonetheless...... ford9719 (369), Vilseck, Germany

Has a carmal taste with some friut afterwords. LinusStick (1845), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

I don’t know if it just came in or was shaken, but the head was so thick I had to cut through it with a machete to get to the beer. Once to the beer, the taste was nice and bitter but didn’t last too long. This may be a reference only I would get, but the aftertaste was like Band Aids. Don’t ask me...that’s what it tasted like. hophead75 (1959), Boonton, New Jersey, USA

I get a bit of citrus and floral hops in the aroma as well as some caramel malt and light fruits. Taste is light citrus and floral hops, nice and malty, with a lightly bitter lasting finish. Nice session ale. bitbucket (2034), Kirkland, Washington, USA

Dry piney finish. bigboob (9), Greensburg, Pennsylvania, USA does not count | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 16, 2006 Updated: Dec 25, 2006From a variety pack. Poured a cloudy orangish amber color with much too much head. The white foam had largish bubbles and produced a milkshake type body. A malty aroma with just a hint of hops. Kind of weak for an ESB. The taste is not displeasing. Not quite as hoppy as expected, but has a spicy taste. A medium mouth feel and long finish. After taste is as expected for this style. VERY overcarbonated. Among the sediment in the bottle bottom are unidentifiable tan colored "lumps" approx 1/32" in diameter. Overall, not bad. Definitely not outstanding, but not bad. beerbill (1954), Laurel, New York, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Dec 16, 2006 12 oz. bottle courtesy of Secret Santa. Poured a fairly clear copper color with a thick, foamy white head. Lots of carbonation. Light but pleasant aroma of sweet malt with maybe a touch of hops as well. Really not all that flavorful. Pretty dull actually. After a few seconds, some excessive hops bitterness kicks in, almost like biting the white part of a grapefruit. Unpleasant, long bitter finish. Thin mouthfeel. This is the first beer from Great Divide that I did not really care for.
