It has the effervescent tone I associate with other Great Divide beers but seems to have this grassy doughy bready flavor which was mixxed with an IPA-like bitterness. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Oct 11, 2006 Lightly hazed golden dark amber ale with a thick off white head. Light caramel malt with a nice piney hop in aroma. In mouth, a burned sugar and cereals with earthy hops, light orange and grapefruit, not overbearing, and very classy. Medium bodied. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 2, 2006 On tap at the Great Divide Brewery Tour 9/28/06. Sharp bitterness evident in the nose, some maltiness secondary. Light copper color, crystal clear, thin white head. Flavor - nice soft maltiness upfront followed by strong bitterness, some earthy flavor from hops. Med-light body. Overall, very good ESB - nice malt, nice bitterness, easy drinking. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 29, 2006 Bottle: Poured a reddish/light brown color ale with a small slightly off-white foamy head with average retention. Aroma is slightly bitter with some semi-caramel malt. Taste is a well balance mix between some caramel malt with a dry and semi-bitter finish. Body is about average with great carbonation. Overall, probably more hops then in a regular ESB but well made nonetheless and great session beer overall. Sincere (145), wichita, Kansas, USA
| 1.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/20 | Sep 24, 2006 12 oz bottle pours a very reddish-orange with a thin, white, dissapating head. Very active carbonation. Smells slightly like grass and sweet caramel maltiness. The beer taste starts dull and morphs into a very earth and grass clippings experience. The hops kick in at the end, but only barely. No noted maltiness as advertised. It’s far too bubbly and astringent to the palate. Another not-so-suprisingly bland Great Divide beer. cheapdark (2037), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 1/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 24, 2006 Updated: Jan 4, 2008 Unbelievably, this was better than their Tiatan IPA. Quite lively. When am I gonna learn, I don’t like the bitterness of some hops? I probably won’t try anything more than a 90% BV rating again. Not quite as good as Yards extra special. ...but this does have very vice champagne like carbonation..I got 4 pale ales in my great divide variety pack. I wish I could have seen what was in it before I bought. IF, (and that’s a big IF), I could have seen what was iin my variety pack, I would have picked something else. I hope I’m not raining on anyboby’s parade. Titan had the highest percent alky in the pack. It’s just I was expecting at least one dark beer. starfireming (309), Richmond, Virginia, USA
