Commercial Description:
HotShot ESB is an easy-drinking and remarkably smooth Extra Special Bitter, brewed in the classic-English style. More assertively hopped than ordinary bitters, light copper-colored HotShot showcases clean hop flavors, balanced by its slightly fruity nose and light-caramel malt character.

Amber and clear in the glass. You can really smell the malt at first followed by a good hop aroma. Well balanced flavor; not as bitter as I expected. Very clean, dry finish.

This is a very tasty bitter, in my limited experience with ESBs. Really hoppy in nose and flavor; light and refreshing. Hotshot ESB pours a cloudy dark orange with an off-white billowy head. It has sort of a bready/cookie aroma along with some floral notes. Nice sharp, bitter flavor.

Poured a light amber body with an off white head. Lots of fruit, light herbal and floral hops and some light caramel malts. Light nnuts in the middle, with a good smooth finish with just a touch of bitterness.

Nutty malt, lightly candied, inviting but somewhat ordinary aroma. Perhaps orange, perhaps cinnamon brown - hard to tell in the blue hotel glass that I’m drinking it out of. Moderately sweet, a bit underbittered, fairly bland. Some chalky undertones. Finishes a bit starchy. Mild astringency and fairly heavy metal in the finish. Medium body. Move on, nothing to see here.

12 oz bottle. Orange, slightly hazy. Bubbly white head that laced the glass. Subdued caramel and toffee malt aromas. I also detected a whiff of celery at times. Light sprucy hop flavor accented by a malty caramel note. Dry with a satisfying bitterness at the end. This particular bottle was overcarbonated.

Bottled. Copper-colored, light hazy beer with a beige head. Aroma has fruity hops, caramel and roasted malt. The flavor adds some candisugar-like notes to it. Full, sweet, light sticky body and a sweet and american-hopped finish. (060518)

"Poured a light golden color small head, which didn’t lace well. Aroma was of citrus hops caramel. Flavor was much the same but thin all the way around. not great"
