| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 11, 2006 I haven’t been able to distinguish this from a standard American Pale Ale. Aroma was of citrus hops, some caramel. Flavor was light caramel and toffee malts (the latter the most prominent ESB part of the experience), even a touch of a dry honey finish with citrus and grapefruit hops present. The mouthfeel was slightly acidic and light (but refreshing). Poured a clear amber, light copper color with a thin small head that yielded weak lacing. Ibrew2or3 (2766), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA
| 0.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 2/5 | 2/10 | 1/5 | 3/20 | Jun 2, 2006 Looks like I bought a bad bottle of this stuff. Poured huge foam ball even when using extra care. The first couple ounces poured out clear copper in color. After four tries at emptying the 12 oz into my 23 oz glass (explosive foaming) the color was hazy and murky copper color. Aroma is harsh bitter hops and sour to tin like. Taste has a brutal combination of bitterness and overpowering sour flavor that dominate throughout the taste profile. Thankfully a little malt flavor does show up to cut the sourness just a bit. I had to pour more than half of it out. I couldn’t take the sour stale yeast flavor. I’ll re-rate if I ever get around to trying this one again after this ghastly experience. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2006 35,5 cl bottle. Orange colour with a nice head of lances. Heavy aroma of caramel and with a pretty touch of floral from the hops. Nice flavour of caramel and malt combined with a nice smooth but very noteable hoppy finish. hershiser2 (917), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA

Hoppy flavor and aroma, but not overwhelming... or special. Average ESB. zebracakes (1216), Washington DC, USA

The flavor is pretty smooth: hops, caramel, balanced.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 19, 2006 It pours a light copper color with a very tall and fluffy light tan head. The scent is of hops, very sharp and bright. It also tastes mostly hoppy with a dry bitterness (and the same un-placeable hop flavor), but the beer is pretty light and slightly watery, especially compared to the last few Great Divide products I’ve had. There is very little to no sweetness, which is fine by me. This is a crisp, refreshing brew, even at cellar temperature. The carbonation is nice and fizzy for a light, bitter ale. Overall, I say thumbs up. On a colder night, I’d want something a bit more substantial, but this is nice for an early spring beverage. It makes me look forward to the lighter beers of summer.
