And this seems like most of the ones I had today. Look of a slightly hazy amber and a thin head. Aroma here is more floral and less malty than the DPA. Flavor is comes off as a smooth malt basis with a thin small buttery hop finish. Decent bitter, but, eh, nothing too great. roder60 (1034), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Aug 16, 2005 Golden amber with a respectable poofy head. Nice light hop aroma. Very yummy balanced goodness ... mellow yet fruity hops and crisp caramel malt. I adore beers along these lines ... this is very, very good. alaskanwarren (286), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2005 A marvelous ESB. I hope to try this again soon. Slight hops noticable both in the nose and in the taste and a nice hint of toastiness. A great mix of having a slight hops in there but making a great smooth bitter. It’s a beer that really feels great. Gmku (255), Asheville, North Carolina, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2005 Full in body, flavor, and aroma, this is one very nice ESB. Glad it’s now available in these parts. Assertive hop aroma (mildly grassy), sweet and lightly caramel-like malt backbone with a fruity nose. I could make this a regular in my domicile. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 14, 2005 In the bottle from Dirty John’s. Pours orange with a white head that won’t stay in the glass. A surprisingly super-sized foamy head. Good hop aroma. Great citrus hop flavor with a subtle bread-like flavor. Very pleasant. sethdude (610), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Flavor is nutty with slight hop citrus, smooth malts and mellow aftertaste. Thanks to lizzy for hauling this from CO for me. hopscotch (5549), Vero Beach, Florida, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 1/5 | 8/20 | Aug 8, 2005 Bottle... Deep golden ale with a large, fizzy, off-white head. Great retention. The nose is of caramel, brown sugar and tea. Perfectly balanced, but bland. Light-bodied and fizzy as hell. Expands in the mouth like a shot of Baileys and half a shot of lemon juice (Cement Mixer, we called it in college). Crisp, clean finish. Overcarbonated, big time! I’ll have to try this one again, however, I’m rating it so that someone over at GD may realize they have a bottling problem.
