Commercial Description:
HotShot ESB is an easy-drinking and remarkably smooth Extra Special Bitter, brewed in the classic-English style. More assertively hopped than ordinary bitters, light copper-colored HotShot showcases clean hop flavors, balanced by its slightly fruity nose and light-caramel malt character.

Pour is nice raddish amber with a big off white head...smell is very hoppy with lots of big citrus, soap, and pine...I’m with wiseblood in that I was expecting SOME malt in the aroma...taste had some more malt in it...nutty dough at first, turning deliciously bitter...nice ESB...

Hazy orangish-red with a huge head. Lots of floral and piney hop aromas. Tasted of citrus, mostly grapefruit, some caramel sweetness, and a big dose of pine. I was expecting a more noticeable malt profile, but if there was one, it was hard to find. Still, it was crisp and interesting, even though it seemed more like an IPA than I expected.

The beer exploded out of the bottle. The enormous head took a long time to die out and I was getting impatient to drink the beer. Looks good with the enormous head and surprisingly some sediment. Sour, bready flavor.

pours out a sort of amber color with a white head that seems to last until the end of the bottle. as a start this isnt a style that i am fond of, but wow, this one was pretty impressive. a little bit of hops added, sweet and easy drinking but with that great hop kick. this is a damn fine esb (or american pale ale -if you will) that i will end up getting again. very nice.

Bottle. Bottled the 2nd week in March. A hazy, light-copper pour with an average-sized sandy head that really lasts and leaves delicate lacing. Very hoppy and bitter aroma for an ESB. Smells more like an IPA. Lots of citrusy hops are present along with caramel and lemon. Full-bodied. Definitely leans more toward the hoppy side but the presence of malts is still notable. Sweet caramel flavors start off and are followed by some pretty bitter hops. Only a bit of lingering dryness. A great take on a style that’s a little boring to begin with.

A bit more bitter than other ESBs. Very clean doesn’t linger. A little caramely and sweetness in there. Easy to drink. In bottles at Redlight Redlight in winter park.

Bottle 12 oz. Clear amber hue with medium white head. Medium hoppy aroma. Light to medium body with smooth texture. Medium flavor hops and sweet malt with little to no finish. Ok brew but weak for GD.

On Tap @ Clarks Ale House, Syracuse: This has a somewhat hoppy and spicy aroma for an ESB, with mild added caramelness; it has an earthy and nuttiness and a clean, mild flavor profile; generally a bit watery and bland for an ESB, but not bad.
